Not worth the money
I’ve tried the usual GTD apps and this is still the best one out there. It has the one feature that I love that none of the others have and that’s the ability to mark a task as in progress. Amazing. One feature I’d love to see is tags. Please add the option to use tags.
I bought firetask a while back (and while the initial purchase prices of the ios & MacOS apps were fairly steep + releases don’t happen super frequently, they usually contain *actual* improvements & I haven’t had to pay any additional amount - it seems like most developers push out updates that are 90% UI ‘updates’ letting bugs fester, features grow stale & then spring a subscription model on you to fund this work... development costs money, paying $4 for an app once is cool, but don’t expect it to do much or evolve much). The recent update seems to have been a pretty necessary one adding start dates (which is a confusing can of worms that blurs the lines between task list & calendar), cleaning up some of the views & such. I have tried to look for an email address to contact the developer directly about a bug I found a whileeee back, but cannot find one so I will lump it in here with suggested improvements: Improvements: 1. FireTask is a very expansive app, which is great, but it can be difficult to remember all the different functionality available to a user if they do something like ‘hold down the add button’ within a ‘specific’ screen. Some general UX streamlining would open the app up to more people I believe (like the addition of viewing the calendar by due vs scheduled - at first I had no idea what that little button did or what it would change...) 2. One of the things I love so much about firetask is that it is a very very very beefy GTD app that actually looks nice AND integrates a calendar that shows events WITH tasks (my favorite has always been 2Do, but the fact that I have to go to a different calendar tucked away in a corner to see what events my tasks may conflict with has always been a very unfortunate deal breaker). This being said it would be nice if the events would show up in the calendar in a way that is more similar to the tasks/depicts the order in which events are due. My guess is the current format was chosen because the calendar is already too big for an iPhone screen - as such it probably makes sense to figure out a way to shrink down the very large screens into a more compact manner (including the kanban view). As for the bug: 1. On the Apple Watch app the buttons haven’t always worked correctly. I’m not sure if any changes have been made (I think there have been some), but a bug still exists with the ‘Today’ button. For me the default menu correctly shows a little ‘1’ in the ‘today’ button right now, but when I click on
My favorite app just got better with dark mode. Thank you!
I tried many task/todo/kanban management apps and this one is the best I’ve found. I’ve tried bending others into a good GTD workflow but each left me overwhelmed - either with a long list of tasks or with work involved in managing them. Firetask gives me a focused view of my tasks. Is easy to add them, and has plenty of options for tagging. You can even use a Kanban view, though I find Kanban less useful in digital form. The today and next 3 day views are indispensable in keeping me focused on what needs to be done. It can be a little confusing at first, just create some sample items, play with the tagging, and soon you’ll understand what works best for you and how the app works. The iCloud sync works well, so you can stay in sync with the Mac OS counterpart app. Don’t waste your time with other apps, this one has what you need and is smartly designed.
This review is a little jaded because of my requirements. What I wanted was an app that can sync with my iOS reminders as they are along with the Tasks that sync from my Outlook and give me a Kanban view of them. This creates a reminders list called “Firetask” on my iPad (it does not sync with “my” reminders or tasks - it creates a new list). I don’t want another list to manage - I want to manage the ones I have. The tasks on my iPad can be synced via cloud with another device but what I wanted was something that took all of my lists and gave me a better view. If you are not looking for what I just described, this works great. For me, I’ll have to go searching again or wait for an update if this is the direction the vendor is going.
Easy to use with some unique and useful options. The Kanbana type view with cards is very useful for brainstorming, and organizing if you are a visual thinker. It has my favorite name for a task/management/list type app, too.
I’ve tried more task management systems but I would want to admit – including earlier versions of Firetask. The latest version pulls it altogether in a cohesive system that is fast and efficient, once you get the hang of it. Highly recommended.
I paid to much money for this app for it to keep crashing like it does. In addition, the app did not retain my recurring task for some reason. I really like the design and functionality of the app. Please fix ASAP😡😡😡
