The app works. Its not the most user friendly, for example to import a saved light template into your lights configuration, you click the “export” button, which is exactly opposite of what anyone would think. The backwards works and loads a config to your light except sometimes it bugs out and actually exports, or saves its existing settings over top the template. Sometimes it can no longer connect to lights and you have to forget and re pair them. I put the lights on a small UPS so any power flicker doesn’t reset them.

The app won’t even connect to my tank,I can see the tanks Bluetooth in my setting but as soon as I open the app it’s gone,if fluval put as much effort into their app as to making their lights they’d probably go somewhere,instead I’d rather use a competitors light now

Straight garbage. Lights great but without the app you can’t really do much. I would look for another option with better app.

This app isn’t user friendly and it doesn’t seem to work very well. I wish it was better for how much I paid for these lights…

Really wanted to like this app. Darn near impossible to program it. Not as shown. Export presets dont run. Put more time in development just doesn’t work

Whoever designed this app. The entire thing. Needs to delete themselves. Worst UI ever.

I have 9 of these lights and I can tell you they are great, meanwhile the app has a disappointing terrible layout and no resources for good custom settings. You will spend a good hour making a ten point custom Dawn to daylight schedule if your lucky. If you’re unlucky and just happen to move your finger just south of the Warm White bar, you will inevitably hit the gigantic cancel button and will have to start all over… I’ve had most of these lights since 2018 and I am still trying to get the ideal settings. This is in large part to not one single individual at Fluval responsible for the default settings, thinking that maybe people would like the lights on when THEY want them on. When you go online to try and find well recognized user settings there is no one resource, it’s all anecdotal “try this” posts on either forums with screenshots or convoluted YouTube videos. Fluval, shame on you for charging a premium for customizable lighting and then just throwing it at the consumer. Couple that with the slim default choice’s, no resource for proven settings at various tank sizes and HIGHTS, and no dedicated site to discuss them is why I would recommend YOU not buy them. If you’re going low tech with Val,sag,Anubias and swords this light is a complete ripoff considering the hassle involved in getting it to your preferences. I would recommend a nice warm hanging light from a lowes or other lighting outlet. You might have to have an electrician install it over the tank, but it will look a whole lot cleaner. If you’re going high tech with co2 baby tears crypts and alternative colors this light is not good enough and will dim overtime trying to keep up with max settings. So you’d be better off with a fixture. It’s too bad I had to write this in 2024 but Fluval, you’ve done NOTHING to remedy these well discussed issues and very much deserve this review.

This app needs to be overhauled it lacks features such as if you make an adjustment it doesn't save to the profile you are currently in, setting times are difficult with the sliders.

First and foremost I am a huge huge huge fluval brand freak. But this, this app I absolutely hate. I almost ready to return the light. I am a very ocd person and honestly not being able to get exact times set with the stupid slider is the most dumbest thing on earth. I spent 25 mins to get 1 time point at the exact time that I want. 4 out of 10 points I got the rest forget it. There should be a spot to manually enter in the time, also have an option for 12h or 24h for the time. 3/4 people out in this world doesn't read military. You should also add the time bar that indicates where the time is at during the active live time like there is in the preview. I love the light but unfortunately the app for me is what’s killing the excitement about it. Go with a different brand and just manually do it and get exact on the dot right away not this messing around just to get one time point in 25 minutes then you get get the rest of them. This is huge for ppl with ocd and most fish keeping ppl are. Listen to your customers and make the updates.

Like the light. Hate the app! To turn off and off you have to have your phone, which is fine as these days I normally always have my cell phone on me. However, to open app to get to the on/off of the light I have to be standing right next to the tank. I can be sitting in same room just a few feet away and the app will not open. I have to get up and stand next to tank with phone for app to open so I can turn on or off. Also, the preset features are very confusing to set and doesn’t seem to work as I have tried everything! Very disappointed in app which I thought was going to be so cool.
