I was hoping to be a Quickbooks Self Employed convert but the app is unusable. It also does not track mileage accurately nor does it track every trip.
They keep insisting that I signed up through App Store (I didn’t), and will not let me cancel on desktop. Using support is difficult. There are better apps by better companies. Find them.
The desktop version is very streamlined so I was surprised to find out that the mobile app is essentially useless. It has very limited functionality and a clumsy and frustrating interface. Outside of time tracking it doesn’t seem to have much of a purpose at all.
I have been using FreshBooks on the web on my computer for several years now. Unfortunately, the phone app has never been usable, despite the updates. It simply doesn’t sync with my data from the web. It consistently doesn’t update my clients, invoices, estimates, etc - either one or some combination. This is especially annoying when I am on site without my computer and I’m trying to look something up for a client on my phone, but I can’t because the phone app is unusable.
The mileage tracker is what finally sold me on FreshBooks. Unfortunately it does not live up to its promise. It’s often wildly inaccurate - it breaks up trips into multiple legs - and when you finally give up and try to edit manually - it doesn’t give you the actual mile calculation.
I like the software but its a shame that still has a lot of performance issues, bug -You have very limited options from the cellphone app, I cant see accounting reports from cellphone, can’t filter expenses, can’t manage projects from cellphones -Mile tracker isn’t accurate, can’t track a full trip -bugs in the dashboard, it does not let you to type or choose date -very limited option on estimate and invoice temples I cant modify or adjust to mine needs It does not show full text when typing a description -it should notify every time a customer sees your invoices like other competitors softwares do For what they charging they should put more effort and attention to the client needs Its like the app was designed functional enough to just sell subscriptions I hope you they’ll fix it because I really like the app
My experience with FreshBooks over the last two years is that they don’t actually care about providing a good service. It’s clear that their main mission is to simply take your money while providing bare minimum. Over two years of paid subscription, the app is total junk, it lags, crashes, half of it doesn’t even work and it tells you to open the website. Super easy fixes too, these are some lazy greedy owners. And the app shows an advertisement for buying a subscription as the front page even after PAYING ALREADY. Do yourself a favor and find a different service.
It’s nearly impossible to complete any work while using this app. It consistently freezes and kicks you out if it’s not just moving slow. My business complains about this daily. The app alone has caused so much frustration we continuously consider moving to a competitor just because of the app. We don’t have the same problems on desktop.
I love being able to invoice a client from my phone and give them the option of different ways to pay (including credit card). I don’t like being charged more then not having things work until I update. I also hope they will not require signing in/ confirmation each time we open the App come April 15th. Most glitches have been my fault, so upgrading to 4 stars. One other glitch May be my fault but the categories I enter to make tax time easier don’t seem to stay…
I love this app in theory, but the time tracking leaves a lot to be desired. Even with location services, motion tracking, etc. on by default the trips don’t actually track my location precisely, it only seems to record start and endpoints. Sometimes the GPS seems super off from where I’m actually starting / ending, making it difficult for me to classify later if it was her business or personal. Also, there’s a incredibly long delay between the trips and when they show up for review — sometimes four or five days. Why? Please fix this in the next update!
