Frosthaven: Official Companion

The design of the app is pretty good but unfortunately I’ve had to stop using it because it lacks envelope x content, summons, proper objective tracking, and the flavour text (ability names) on enemy cards

This is trying to fulfil a need that doesn’t exist. We already have a free app called X-Haven that does everything you could ever want from a Gloomhaven / Frosthaven helper and it does every single thing better than this. I am currently watching the Lucky Duck stream where they are talking about how much they are listening to the community to improve on it. No, they really haven’t. By far, the worst thing about this app is the clunky way you are expected to type in initiative numbers for ever single character, every single round. X-haven let’s you drag and drop into the right order which is so much simpler and less clunky. It’s an unforgivable design mistake. I have been asking the devs to implement this change for ages and nothing has materialised. That is just the worst thing but there is so much wrong with this app I could write a whole essay on it. It should be studied as an exercise in how NOT to make a boardgame helper app. Do yourself a favour. Download the far superior x-haven app and save yourself the headache!

Offline this works fine, but as soon as you try to play with several people on different devices the app freezes and you have to kill it and restart. With the main game so eagerly anticipated and pricey, and the app also adding cost, you’re letting the side down. Please get this fixed.

So many errors. Functionality awkward. Very unimpressed with Lucky Duck’s implementation. Really hope they are going to make an effort to improve the app. In the meantime, the free X-Haven app is superior - so save yourself some money!

Basic user research would show 99% of iPad users with a stand have it oriented landscape. Please sort as I am using a fan made version after paying for this because of the ineptitude of development. Not what Cepholafair stands for.

This app doesn’t work. After developer logos and title card the app is blank for a few seconds then crashes. I am using an iPad with iOS 12.5.6, which according to the App Store should be supported. This is very disappointing, especially at it cost £7!

Like most, my iPad stand puts the display in a landscape orientation. How hard is it to give us an app that rotates and either scales or rearranges the layout? More than annoying.

A brilliant App that is essential for playing Frosthaven - it takes a massive load of admin away from that table so the focus can be on the game itself.

The board game is already $200-250 and then the app is another $8 on top of that I really thought it would have better polish. At first I was pretty happy with it: whenever you open any door automatically having the section book entry populate the correct enemy values was pretty nice. Having it auto regenerate and wound is handy. Populating the loot deck is sweet. It doesn’t keep track of any campaign info which is… whatever. Maybe the unofficial Kingdom Death app which will track how many nose hairs you have spoiled me on that front. But it really lacks some functionality in the one area it’s supposed to be helpful for. If you add any status effects to someone who has already gone earlier in the round it will automatically strip them when any turn passes. Especially annoying when that effect is Bane and then you hit undo and it automatically gives them 10 health back even if they had less than 10 to begin with so you don’t know what their health is anymore. It will regenerate people over their max health. It automatically removes bane poison and wound when you heal but for some reason does not remove brittle. Etc.
