Galaxia

This is almost a perfect port of the original in terms of graphics and sound. The movement is not quite authentic esp. for the motherships and henchmen when they come down together. Also there is no bonus (I.e. 800 for getting all three). The worst part is that the left/right control is hard to be precise with which adds difficulty. Wish they could fix that.

Can't find anyway to turn on the sound. Controls are a bit limiting but very much like the game I remember playing as a kid.

Not worth it. A classic game ruined with poor controls. Don’t waste your money. Make the controls far more responsive and get rid of the feint image of the handle as well and you have yourselves a winner. Otherwise- not not good. This applies to galaxia and scramble. What a shame.

This is very close to the original, however I’ve noticed 2 things. When 2 reds and a yellow fly down, killing the 2 reds followed by the yellow would give you 800 points for the yellow one alone and it would display this where the yellow alien was. When killing a yellow alien it would for a time , slow the aliens from flying down.

You are so close to nailing this but two issues that need addressing which are the scoring anomaly that has been well documented in the previous reviews but for me the most important one is the collision detection is way too forgiving. If you play the arcade rom your missiles quite often fly between the Galaxians but on her you’re guaranteed a hit if you’re close enough. However, kudos for including controller compatibility, it’s fantastic. Like I say, you are so close to nailing this port 👍🏻

Don’t waste your money - it looks like the making of a great game but after two games their is no ability to have a shipped picked up and all aliens dive for you - unrealistic

**Update May 2020** I think there’s a scoring bug that needs fixing. The score for the little yellow guy is inconsistent. If you hit him when he is charging with his wingmen, you only score 60 (his convoy score) for him, even if you hit him last. If you hit him when he is charging on his own, you score 800. This should be the other way round. Like the original, you should be rewarded 80p for hitting him last after destroying his protection. Not a bad conversion at all for the price. Looks and sounds authentic. Struggle a bit with the virtual joystick but the fire button is very responsive. I think the speed issue raised in other reviews has been addressed in later releases. Seems fine to me. Would like to see the scores appear above ships when you hit a combination and the screen which shows the score for each ship.

Back in the day this was my favourite arcade game, and in later years I even had a Galaxian arcade machine at home. So to find a game that faithful replicated this classic is very satisfying. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because the scores 800 by shooting two reds and the a yellow doesn’t appear to be part of this port. But a lifetime of playing means I can’t help but run that gauntlet every time it’s presented to me. Maybe in an update, or it is for copyright reasons that this functionality isn’t included?

The controls are not very good. There is not an auto fire which would be good and the joystick controller does not move at the same rate as your finger. If they fix these problems the game would be great . It sounds and looks the same as the original but not enjoyable while these problems exist.

Looks and sounds like I remember - but the joystick is just terrible. Gave up after about 5 goes, too frustrating.
