GenZD supports running games using the open-source idTech 1 game engine for iOS, and supports running its "WAD" game files as well as community-developed "MOD" files, all rendered natively using modern technology. It supports several capabilities beyond the original engine, such as modern 3D rendering, widescreen graphics, dynamic lighting, a fully scriptable environment, and much much more.
Please note that GenZD does not include content and they must be provided by you. Please use the Files app to move or copy files to the GenZD folder under "On my iPhone" or "On my iPad".
Configurations called "Launch Configurations" can be created using a base game file as well as additional MOD files (.pk3 and .zip files). A plethora of content developed by the community is available on the web, and almost all "mods" that use the UDMF or WAD formats are supported.

Touch controls need work
The touch controls are missing some basic functionality present in most mobile FPS games. The movement joystick doesn’t snap to the location of your finger, nor does it register any input outside of one of four cardinal directions, meaning diagonal movement is impossible. The size is fixed also. The “press and swipe” motion that I’m used to for moving in other games is impossible. It’s more like four tiny buttons which are difficult to reliably press. If this could be fixed, this would be a great port. It’s still better than Bethesda’s iOS port, which they haven’t updated in years.
Widget question
Update 3: I don’t use Discord or have an account on Reddit so hopefully to get this.
How do I add launch configurations to the new widget? All I see is a white box and no options to add to the widget in the app. iPhone 15 PM on iOS 18.01. I will try the iPad after this.
Side note: I am sorry about the long delay with Apple’s review of ArcadeMania. I check for it every day so I can appreciate the frustration with this. Keep up the good fight because we love your work. Thanks!

A suggestion - iOS 18 includes ‘game mode’ that works similar to the Mac’s ‘game mode’. From what I read you have to classify your app as a ‘game’ versus something like ‘entertainment’. I am not sure how easy it is to change this or if it creates havoc with the app approval process. But it might be worth looking into. Otherwise, great job!
Been waiting for this for years
Now able to run Project Brutality on my iPad, with mouse and keyboard support - incredible! (Look it up, download source from GitHub and change extension from .zip to .wad and you’re good to go).
Promising Start
Being able to run GZDoom on iOS has been a longtime dream of mine, and it's finally here! What's here is already promising, but it's definitely missing key features, and other things definitely need tuning.
-aiming with a touchscreen feels less like a mouse and more like touch input being translated to controller stick input that's then being given to the game. It DOES NOT feel good whatsoever, and if you have a background with other touchscreen FPS games, it's gonna feel especially bad.
-as another reviewer pointed out, not being able to have generic buttons that can be used for mod specific bindings is also an issue, along with the fact you can't actually resize any of the buttons, nor control their transparency independent of each other. Being able to mess around with the top buttons as well would also be nice. (Having a separate button that pulls them all out and hides them would be a nice addition as well)
Those are the things that stuck out the most to me, but as an enjoyer of doom's community modding scene and mobile gaming, this is a HUGE blessing. Thanks for making this, and good luck on your future endeavors!
-EDIT 9/16/24: the dev has fixed all of these issues and more, absolutely wonderful app. If you're on the fence, just buy it.

This is just about the best port of GZDoom to iOS I could ever have hoped for. It’s considerably better and more capable than the official Doom mobile ports. Excellent work by this developer.
Very good but one big issue
Is there no way to remove wads you’ve added to it? My apps flooded I need to delete some and can’t figure it out.
Works perfectly but controller support needs fixing
Everytime i connect a controller it begins to only let me move right and forward, this was using the base ultimate doom wad, and a candy con wireless controller, please attempt and fix this tiny bug and make this playable for controller users

Best $2 I've spent on the +100 apps I've bought so far lol, thank you for porting gz , got disappointed Doom on Xbox didn't have support but this has saved that feeling, 1 suggestion is could you get configs in game to save after changing binds and sens? Or do I have to play with the gzdoom.ini?
