Godville

Godville is a game you don't play. Well, not in the conventional sense. You play the role of a personal diety to an adventuring hero. Your control over the hero is limited in that they act fairly autonomously. There's no intense grinding, the hero does that. But there is definitely scope to influence what happens, and occasionally, that influence is decisive. Despite the lack of direct control, there's plenty to keep you entertained. The game is built around humour & wordplay, with puns figuring prominently. There's considerable complexity in the hero's development & the gameplay process. There are social elements that become available as your hero advances. Its definitely a peculiar premise for a game and for me, its been enjoyable & entertaining.

It’s not too bad when it actually works - I seem to spend more time looking at a mostly blank page or colour/image background that only has one sentence (updating the heroine), as if it’s struggling to connect to something.

It’s been 4 years and 8 months since me and Polenski first came together. My little guy who believes in me. The reason why I like the game is that it’s sweet, funny and just nice to see an adventurer go about believing in you. This game is something that’s been on off. I get a new phone and forget about it. But I always come back, i always enjoy Polenski and his travels and I never get tired of it. Thank you Dev for making this. 4 years and 8 months? We can go higher!

This game is a app someone should own by default. This game is the best way to kill boredom when you don't wanna put effort in. The hero explores on his own, and you're the God who can give out commands, help encourage or punish your hero. This impacts the direction your hero goes. So while your hero does all the work, you can sit back and throw in a guidance here and there to direct your hero. Another large attraction to this game would be how pun filled and humour filled it is, the items you get are always sarcastic and the hero always writes something that contains at least one pun. Don't expect any graphics, but expect to be the god of a hero on his own quest. 10/10

Great original concept, I don't mind playing as I only have to check up as much or little as I want

Interesting Game, humorous diary entries, funny references to pop culture and totally accessible with voice over. Good game :-)

Please fix the forecast widget. When I press "show less" and "show more", it gets stuck on cut-off text on my phone. It won't expand unless I close and go back to notification centre. Old review: Don't download this expecting the game to have mind-blowing graphics or be highly interactive. In fact, the whole point of it is you don't really have to do much, if at all. I honestly thought I'd be deleting this app pretty soon after I downloaded but I seem to be hooked. You get pretty attached to your "hero" and end up checking him a lot. It's a text-based game but it constantly surprises me how witty some diary entries are, and how many goals there are to achieve. There's also something satisfying about progress in this game. It's measured by time, even when you don't do much. Give this app a whirl for a week or so, check him every now and then, punish or encourage, join a guild and duel. You might be surprised how much you'll like it. 🙂

Excellent game

This is the most funny game I've played in ages, I literally crack myself up every time I play. I give this game a well deserving 5 star.

I've been playing for 1 and a half years and the longest time I ever have left my hero alone is for a week. At first I almost deleted this, but I didn't (thank GOD) and I now play it whenever I get the chance. But hey, it's not just me! I can hardly find any non-5 star reviews at all! But yeah, it has a wonderful community, it's a masterful game and even the ideabox alone is just so amazingly well done.
