GOV.UK ID Check

Use the app/website for everything, as I am living outside the UK, but still need access to pension information etc. Clear and easy to use - the passport application was much quicker and easier than last time I did it, and liked that the system checks your photo, and let’s you know if it’s acceptable, straight away. No more sending your application by snail mail, waiting for weeks , only to have it returned because the photo isn’t good enough. I also like that you can get text updates to let you know the progress of your application. I was able to use a smartphone for scanning/ID photos etc., which made things pretty seamless, so I can’t attest to how easy it is to authenticate your ID by the other methods available.

Absolutely perfect!

I have everything needed and it took me 25 minutes to complete. The chip scan may not work if you have a case or support on your phone and rescanning the chip requires retaking the photo. Eventually, I had success but I would definitely prefer to use the telephone (but was unable to get through after several attempts). Low grade from me.

What a total waste of tax payer money. The instructions do not make sense and the app does not work. You cannot even enter a nickname properly.

So quick and so easy. I scanned my ID and my face and it was all done. Great app!

Maybe tell the customers what the document is. You are referring to as in driving license or passport

I am already registered on the .gov website for tax and vat but when I want to register to get my rates reviewed I need to go through all this I D junk. You don’t need this to send me the bills though Chris Hodgson
