worst purchase…
It’s unclear to me why this app has such great press constantly. I can see that the devs are passionate about photography, but the app is buggy. Crashes frequently and various buttons do nothing. I’m on iOS 18 on a 15 Pro. No reason for this broken behavior.
I purchased the yearly plan for Process Zero only. As a feature, it’s super interesting and the end-product is exactly what I want. As a piece of software, it’s extremely unreliable. I’ve lost about a dozen photos in a couple of weeks of trying Halide as my default camera-app, with no indication of why. Did I close the app too fast after capturing the photo? Is listening for the sound of the shutter or the visual of the photo being taken not enough time for the photo to save? Either way, the reliability of an app like this being a "default" is probably the most important thing, so to fumble that implementation is disappointing at best and incredibly frustrating at worst. I’ve requested a refund as this newest app version doesn’t even open on my fully up-to-date iPhone 15 Pro.
at least give us like a dozen trial photos. one free photo per day or something. something to see its features for ourselves to know if we want to spend the equivalent of a month’s worth of water on your stupid camera app. “we offer a free trial” IF you pay up front for a YEAR. come the heck on.
Why upgrade to own for $59 when the app will soon have a V3 and will cost more $$ to upgrade to own. No thank you! Deleting and finding another camera app.
I have been a long term user of smartphones and I have jumped between the 3 ecosystems (Android, Windows Phone & iOS) buying apps and software in all three of them. In terms of features and details, Halide goes far and beyond other camera apps, but my problems with it start when you look at its pricing. 20$ per year subscription is expensive for an app that you will surely learn how to use, but it cant do anything more than what the iPhone camera hardware can. This is still running on a smartphone camera, not on some high end Sony Mirrorless device. 20$ and less is what some other camera app costs here in App Store & other operating systems. And nevermind the pay once price: 60$! And that doesnt gets you future updates in case devs decide its time for Halide III. I know they need to pay bills and stuff, but its a tough sell for 60$.
Anytime a company isn’t confident Thier app will sell, they don’t let you test it out at ALL, Huge I mean Huge Red flag Run don’t walk instant delete Zero stars isn’t an option
Halide’s process zero and the iPhone 16 pro is a perfect combination. Gives me amazing photos with zero editing on my part. I just get a great looking photo that I can enjoy without feeling the need to edit it.
Why upgrade to own for $59 when the app will soon have a V3 and will cost more $$ to upgrade to own. No thank you! Deleting and finding another camera application. Updated Review (9/14/22) First, the political icon has been removed from even being an option. That’s a positive, as I believe this app should have nothing to do with promoting political or social issues. Secondly, I have made reference about Halide going to subscriptions. I do not like subscriptions and in most cases just prefer to buy the application outright if it’s something I will get value from for a long time. I misread the upgrade options inside the app stating that Halide is $1.00 a month and $59.99. There is a “renews annually” between the two options. This is confusing. I initially thought the $59.99 was the annual renewal price rather than the full purchase price. It’s very clear in the App Store of the new pricing, however I only saw it within the app since I bought it years ago. Anyway, as an early adopter of Halide, I’m going to review the new update and consider purchasing Halide Mark ll after a month.
