Hammond B-3X is a next-level tonewheel organ app that gives you incredibly realistic sound & features. We’ve partnered with the Hammond Organ Company and Suzuki Musical Instruments to create the most immersive, authentic and powerful B-3 experience for use live on stage or as a plug-in inside recording apps.
The sound starts with 91 free-running tonewheels, based on meticulously-maintained real organs, and mixes those in real-time based on the notes played and the drawbar levels. Our advanced modeling recreates the tonal filtering, key click, percussion and chorus-vibrato circuits to recreate the organic feel of the real instrument and give you deep control over every element of the sound.
The organ feeds a 5-unit STOMPS section with overdrive, graphic EQ, chorus-vibrato, wah and spring reverb pedals to recreate the widest range of iconic sounds.
The CABS section gives you the choice of 5 Leslie amps and 7 speakers with control over speed, acceleration/deceleration, mic placement, gain, EQ and volume. For rock & blues, add the parallel guitar amp into the mix with two models from AmpliTube, with full tone-shaping controls and spring reverb.
A mixer lets you blend the sound of the Leslie, the parallel guitar amp and DI organ sound. 3 studio effects post-mixer let you put a final polish on your tone.
For live use, a “Controls” view hides the keyboard and enlarges the drawbars and switches for less distraction while playing. And there’s included MIDI assignments for controllers and Hammond digital organs, making it plug-and-play easy to perform.
Hammond B-3X for iPad also supports the latest Audio Units plug-in format, letting you use it inside all the most popular recording apps.

This needs revisiting: especially after three years of neglect.
This sounds good but it has glitches, and the glitches happen at the wrong time. I can’t trust it completely for gigs, so ironically, I bring a Hammond SK1 as a controller and as a backup. Please review the code, add more error checking in the software, add more midi maps for different controllers and finally: give it some love!
Great app but it has many glitches.
Software likes to crash
Almost perfect but needs AUV3 support for DAWS like Logic Pro for iPad
This would be a great plugin as an AUV3 with support for Logic Pro for iPad!
Great product but it needs and update
Love this plugin but it needs to be updated by adding more Hammond models like the C3 and A105 and more Leslie models like the 21h and the 142 and 145 Leslie’s also can y’all update it to be compatible with Logic Pro for iPad so that it won’t keep saying audio unit quit unexpectedly
Crashes loading AUv3 in Logic Pro
Bummer. Can’t use this great plugin.
I used to love this app
to preoccupied making music to take the time to write any reviews but let me first of all say how grateful I am of all of those of you who do share your experiences- your words guide me along this journey!
So why am I not playing tonight? Well I honestly can’t give you the tech specs for I am dumbfounded by tonight’s circumstances. You see I bought this app on Aug 21, 2021. It was (and still is) the most expensive app I have EVER purchased!
This was of course fine and DANDY, because the B3 emulator, connected to my midi controller was one of the coolest instruments I’ve ever owned. My primary instrument is guitar but I’ve always loved anything vintage sounding, I own a Wurlitzer, Moog, ARP, etc.
I’ve been in bands that featured the b3 and I never envied my band mates who had to schlep their organs from here to over yonder.
So naturally I was ecstatic upon discovering this app. This feeling didn’t diminish over the years as most other apps in my plethora of never ending unique app.
That is until now…
Now that my external midi keyboard is no longer able to trigger the app sounds. I’m livid about this. you might be asking yourself and wondering what could’ve possibly gone wrong what changed what happened?
I have had no complaints and no problems from this app since the purchase date on August 21, 2021. It is always been one of my favorite go to apps. I’ve always been a huge fan of all the synthesizers, analog, keyboards, etc. I own the Wurlitzer an RP, Moog, etc.. i’ve been in bands with people that owned Hammond B3‘s, and I never, and envied them having to lug them here in yonder.
So naturally, I was ecstatic upon going about this app app, and what it to do, because I never pictured myself actually owning a real Hammond B3 plus they’re expensive and rare to find So naturally, I was ecstatic upon going about this app app, and what it to do, because I never pictured myself actually owning a real Hammond B3 plus they’re expensive and rare to find.
As I mentioned before, this is one of my favorite go to apps, I plug-in my external midi keyboard, and I’d have a virtual Hammond B3, that I use to record in to play end of practice, and just to have fun with.
A few days ago, everything stopped working, and I was asked to “” register my device and enter my private code which I’ve never gotten for any app. Maybe I should register more my project products but ultimately, I feel like that’s the consumers right they should have a choice of whether or not
GarageBand iOS
This is a Great App, but there is a keyboard issue in GarageBand iOS while playing notes. The Hammond B-3x intermittently mutes out while using GarageBand iOS keyboard. Please help!!!
great organ sounds but uses a lot of DSP
I love the features and sound of this auv3 but it really puts a strain on my ipads dsp. (ipad pro 9.7 1st gen). Out of all my au’s this is the one that puts AUM over the top in terms of DSP and it causes dropouts (static due to 100% dsp). I end up unloading most other au’s to stop this. Fantastic sound but performance needs some optimizations.
Great sound but a few important nitpicks -UPDATED!
I was fortunate to get the app for my iPad for $59.95. That being said, I love the sound compared to the very cheap Galileo app that doesn’t sound as good (still great for the money and for non-purists) but has a few features I’d like to see added in future releases of the B-3X. **SEE UPDATE BELOW** First of all, the app crashes unexpectedly and freezes up with clusters of notes playing loudly that can’t be stopped without closing the app. Using fewer external FX helps but doesn’t cure it. This means it stays in the studio and can never be depended upon for any live performance. Next, there’s no excuse for omitting optional bass pedal sustain, or the option to have percussion sound only on the B preset, like the real thing. These things can and should be fixed ASAP. Getting the sound correct was the hard part and they’ve done that very well. The rest is simple and I hope they tidy up these rough edges. UPDATE: I left my original first complaint up in case anyone else has this admittedly self-induced problem. The sticking notes which sounded like the whole program had frozen were in the bass pedals, which was caused by my selecting “pedal sustain” on the organ console I use to play the app via MIDI. Ironic that my second complaint was over-corrected by my own first mistake. So, add pedal sustain, make percussion only on B and it will be absolutely perfect!
ANOTHER UPDATE: While tweaking the sounds, be sure to use high-quality headphones so you can carefully adjust any grittiness or overdrive to taste and know it’s not due to the amplification being used. Also, once you’re happy with the settings, try changing the organ to see if you can improve the sound even more to your taste. I’d assembled my settings using one of the A100s and found that switching to one of the B3 models warmed up all the sounds I’d thought perfect before.
Wow!
I play Hammond organ for 90% of my gigging life. I have played every clone out there, and plenty of the real thing. My main digital rig is a Viscount Legend, and that is the king of the clones IMHO. I am VERY picky about my Hammond tone!! And this iPad app (yeah, an IPAD APP!!) is amazing! I would use this onstage with no reservations. It’s no toy; it is a legitimate instrument, ready for professional use. It is absolutely worth the money. Having said all of this, here are two things that I REALLY hope are offered in future updates:
1. The ability to ONLY have percussion active on the upper B preset, as it is on a real B3 - having the percussion continue acting on ALL presets is not an advantage. It actively works against organ technique, at least for anyone who is used to the real thing.
2. The ability to map the preset keys to MIDI commands from the controller keyboard rather than having to go to the iPad touch screen to use them.
UPDATE: After a year of using this app, I’m downgrading the rating a bit, because of the above-mentioned issues. I just don’t understand why Hammond won’t give us the option to set this up LIKE THE REAL THING!! It’s an app, it wouldn’t be hard to do!!! The Hammond B3 control layout invented over 60 years ago is STILL the best layout for managing the sound of this instrument, and I cannot understand why Hammond insists on NOT giving us the options to make the app behave like the console organs we are used to. The sound engine is great, and it’s so close, but this drives me up the wall!! Let us map the presets to our MIDI controller, let us CHOOSE whether percussion remains active on presets other than B, and give the option for a second set of drawbars to control the upper A preset. All of this would be EASY TO DO!! Why not do it?!
