Finally, an app to shoot 360° HDRis with your phone.
HDReye is the first and only iOS app for creating custom 360° HDRi images for realistic 3D lighting and compositing.
Just select your desired dynamic range, follow the prompts to shoot a bracketed multi-exposure panorama of your location, and HDReye will stitch and generate a 32-bit (.EXR format) HDRi of your location.
HDReye is an essential app for combining 3D animation realistically with footage or capturing lightmaps of any location. What used to require an expensive 360° camera or chrome ball light probe, now can be done conveniently on your phone with HDReye.
Whether you are an independent 3D artist, VFX studio, AR developer, NFT artist, content creator, or just a hobbyist - HDReye is here to make your workflow simpler and renders more realistic.
HDReye is your image-based lighting solution. Compatible with all 3D packages and render engines including Cinema 4D, Blender, Houdini, Maya, 3D Studio Max, Adobe After Effects, Element 3D, OTOY Octane Render, Redshift, V-ray, Arnold, Unreal Engine, Unity, Spark AR, and more.
HDReye users also have access to the largest crowdsourced collection of HDRi images in the world.
HDReye also works well for capturing 360° panoramas similar to the Google Street View app.

Abofalle
Nice app, flawed results
The app has a great interface and is very easy to use. The workflow (sending the link to the EXR to the workstation) is very straightforward and much appreciated. I really want to love HDR Eye! Unfortunately, the results are heavily flawed and completely unusable:
- stitching problems in each end every asset. There are always parts of the environment appearing twice, in one case my HDRI had two suns. The images are not blended cleanly, there are ugly serrated seams and edges in the sky and halos and burnt out areas around the sun
- the HDR isn’t working for sunlit landscapes at all. No matter which bracketing I choose the sun will always be to dim and won’t illuminate the scene properly. This is even visible in the preview within the app, the demo sphere is more or less evenly gray with the side facing the sun being only marginally brighter. It can be improved somewhat by using curves to increase the contrast in blender or by manually drawing a „sun“ in photoshop (a white circle with +15 stops) into the EXR. But that is not at all how this should work.
Furthermore building the HDR preview inside the app is painfully slow. I assume this is because it is downloading the full resolution HDRI from the server which appears to be around 200mb. Maybe this could be improved by generating a preview HDRI with reduced resolution.
Regarding the pricing: I think the price is actually fair and even a bargain when compared to solutions such as dedicated 360° HDR cameras. That being said I’ve wasted the 3 free assets trying to make things work but I can use none of them. Unless things improve - which I really hope for!! - I won’t be buying a subscription or additional assets. I’m running iOS 16.6 on an iPhone 13. Also I would be willing to provide my assets for further examination in case that helps to pin down the problem. Thanks!
already cool panorama to photograph in App Store. but it is not free and costs.
this app is already cool for taking camera panorama. but is not entirely free and it is not free and it is in English that I think criminal 3 stars are there.
good but dumb for subscription model
not really wanting to pay a month for hdris.
make a pro one time pay version and I'll buy it but a subscription is bad
Love the app, but…
It’s not an app that’s suitable for a subscription model at all! I‘m willing to pay for the pro version, but not for a subscription
Love the App
Found it in a Reddit thread and just downloaded and tested it and it works so well even when u move ur camera like crazy u still get an acceptable result. Can't afford paid apps so this is awesome!
Will continue to test with the Phone on a tripod or at least kept more steady. :)
Awesome
Amazing tool and awesome to have the ability to snap a HDRI with something I carry around in my pocket 24/7
Utter bait and switch
It will not even let you preview the image you spent five to ten minutes capturing. Hiding it behind a paywall. How would anyone know if the panorama is worth paying for? Utter rubbish. Instantly deleted and regret for having wasted 15 minutes of my life.
Free app is unusable
I am unable to view a stitch using the free app because I have no credits. Waste of a download. Don’t waste your time as I have.
