HEARTS of SPACE is the original, premier national showcase for ambient, contemplative, and space-creating music. Listeners describe the show as 'addictive,' 'essential,' and ‘sublime’—a consistently high-quality experience with refined, emotionally significant music that goes far beyond simple relaxation.
Our new, completely rewritten 4th generation Hearts of Space mobile app offers iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch users free, anytime access to our new shows up to 4 times each week. Shows change and the free play allotment resets on Fridays around midnight Pacific Time.
New in-app SETTINGS allow you to customize your experience. You can browse and SEARCH the entire Hearts of Space collection of programs and albums within the app and make and edit personal PLAYLISTS and FAVORITES (now a 3-star rating that also allows you to block any program you don’t want to hear). Apps offer glitchless audio “backgrounding,” Bluetooth and AirPlay support, and up to 256 kBps streaming in the high-quality AAC format.
SUBSCRIBERS gain higher levels of access, choice and interactivity. One subscription works on all your mobile devices and all but prehistoric laptops and desktops. For a seamless musical experience, subscribers can turn voiceovers off, and use interactive stream navigation, a sleep timer, and auto-repeat.

Includes unlimited play of THIS WEEK’s program and 11 continuous, interactive CHANNELS—9 genre-based, 1 “RECENT” channel featuring the 12 newest programs, and 1 eclectic "ALL ARCHIVE” channel that draws on the entire collection.
• BASIC SERVICE—gives you unlimited play of THIS WEEK’s show during the week it’s featured, and an auto-repeat function, plus the ability to browse and sample everything.

Beginning as a pioneering late night radio show in the San Francisco Bay area in 1973, the program continues to offer "slow music for fast times." Hearts of Space evolved its own unique format — a calm, space-creating mix of ambient, electronic, world, new age, classical, contemplative, and experimental music from many eras and cultures. The breadth and depth of this musical focus is the secret of our longevity. A weekly one-hour show was nationally syndicated on the NPR network starting in 1983 and has been heard by millions of radio listeners ever since.
In 2001, we were one of the first independent music producers to offer an online streaming service. While we continue to serve our radio network, our main focus today is our web site and mobile apps.

App works 50% of time
Half of the time, this user receives error message asking to subscribe even though have a paid subscription through March 2024. Love the music and content but the technical issues far outweigh the cost of this expensive app (for us business innovation and improvement geeks, not a great consumer return on investment).
HOS is a real treat for the soul and mind
I have been a long time listener and found this program on the local WFYI radio station in Indianapolis Indiana, Sundays at 10pm and I never missed. Then, I moved away and was sad until I discovered the app. I didn’t mind the old version, but the new version is much better. HOS brings me new music I would have never found otherwise, and has been a real treat over the years. Don’t forget to purchase a coffee mug for those cold, rainy days. Stephen Hill and the rest of the HOS team, THANK YOU.

HOS gives me life on Sunday nights. Now I can listen to it on other nights with my iPhone . Great app.
Too steep $ wise
$13 / month for what is available for free with an Internet radio app. I’d pay $13 / year but not a month.
Works great on iPhone & iPad
I have enjoyed HOS broadcasts immensely since the late ‘70s. I access this awesome resource from the web page, on my iPhone and both my iPads. It would be great to have this usable from Apple TV HD & 4K as well vs. streaming to my main audio system from a iPhone or iPad. Otherwise it’s all good. Thank you for creating this digital treasure. - Jack
UPDATE: Best Music, poor app
UPDATE: The app is improving by leaps and bounds and no longer has these problems! App doesn't remember sign in and once signed in doesnt remember voice over option. pretty basic qol stuff
Amazing library of inspiration
If you are a fan of electronic and New Age music, this app and program is a profound treasure. If you love music from yoga or just want to relax you will discover layers and layers of beauty in these programs. Love that on this app I can make playlists as well. There’s only one glitch that I found so far which has to do with the login but nothing affecting security. I really enjoy the interface of this app, all the text from the introductions, the wonderful archive that it is.
Love Hearts of Space
I’ve been listening to HOS since the 80s. It’s still as great as it’s ever been!
Nostalgia but with a login issue
Been listening to HOS on the radio since I was 12. Now I’m 50 and I’ve been loving the app for the last few years. But recently with the last upgrade I keep having to sign in daily. It won’t keep my credentials after I login successfully. Please help.
