Heges 3D Scanner

Worth the price! Had fun and used it on other models I scanned with without LIDAR on the iPhone 11, Although the model or 3d scan was okay, I used a 3rd party app to see the model properly and the results were pretty great!!!

The scan is not smooth, EM3d has better result. This one is like scandy pro. The result is pixelated. Even you have control to the resolution unlike em3d, still em3d has better result. You need to update this for iphone 13. Update: im still not convinced. Yes, heges are smoother because it can adjust resolution like scandy pro to 0.5mm. However, in heges, once you already scanned a certain angle, and you move to another angle, the smoothness of the previous angle becomes distorted. I can send you the screen shot what im talking about. For example, if scanned the top of the nose,the scan was smooth,until when i move downwward to scan the small holes of the nose,the top of the nose will become distorted. And if you change the angle to the top again to correct the scan, the two holes of the nose will be distorted again. And back and fort. Kindly check that. And yes, i tried to open in third party 3d model viewer, i found more dots in heges (meaning more details) than others, however, there is an issue while moving to different angle as the have explained above. It become distorted/pixelated.

Great little app for older non-LiDAR phones. Usability issues such as the screen being the wrong way can easily be overcome with a mirror. This is by far the lowest threshold of entry into 3D scanning for iPhone X users.

I watched a video on YT and skimmed the faq on the dev’s site and had a quick scan of my own head done in under 5 minutes, exported and editable in Blender with impressive detail. The mirroring function that lets you watch the scan in realtime in a different iDevice is really a defining feature of this app’s workflow.

Was the best detailed scanner on the App Store. Just checked it again today after a few months and it looks awful. Front Face ID looks bad as well. Haven’t changed phones. Quality just went down hill for some reason. LiDAR camera looks pixilated bad, same with the faceID scanner. Like really really bad. Used to be crazy detailed. Even purchased this app cause of the level of detail was spot on. (Make assets for Blender) oddly enough, Polycam got order of magnitudes better. Maybe apple is dialing back the ability of this app to push Polycam? Idk but this app isn’t the same as it once was.

Attempting to scan a small (4” high 2” square base) salt shaker sitting on a wooden table using the faceID scanner at 1mm: * usually it starts by telling me to “slow down” even though I am holding the phone as still as I can, propped on the table, about 12” from the object. * if I move slowly to scan anyway, it frequently loses acquisition, needs to recover from tracking errors. * if I persist and patiently let it reacquire, the scans always end (on their own) before I can get all 4 sides of the object. * sometimes the produced scans have a chimeric quality, two copies of it overlaid. * the whole time it’s scanning, the errors are clicking the phone’s haptics constantly like a geiger counter, as it loses and regains tracking rapidly, multiple times a second. I want to like this app and use it to model small-medium objects but I just haven’t succeeded with it. iPhone 12 pro, FaceID working fine on this unit. Rear LiDAR is working fine for me in this app, but I bought it in to try out the front, high detail, lidar.

this scanner is a waster does a poor job and a waste of time

This app used to be one of the best LiDAR scanning apps on the Apple App Store. It was super fast and detailed. The app would capture incredible detail. The models would come out smooth and complete. Now it barely does a decent scan. I don’t know what happened. How did it go from amazing to bleh? I have scans to prove it. You can literally see them progressively get slightly better… then they just fall off a cliff. I think you tried adding to many different features, or maybe Apple limited your ability to communicate with the LiDAR sensor itself? I’m not sure but can you fix it? I want my app back. I used to tell everyone about this app. My uncle upgraded to an iPhone 12 PM just for the LiDAR. I really hope you read this, and please do not get mad. I’m not trying to get you all riled up. I just want you to know what I’m seeing, from the customers perspective. I’d gladly pay for this app if it worked like it used to. Please fix it.

I don’t pay for something I can’t try out.

I have used different scanners of the years (Sense, structure Sensor) and also trialed different “big name apps” with not much success, until Heges. I started using it a month ago or so and have created dozens of scans. It’s accuracy for me is key. However, I am also very impressed with Heges, and Mr. Marek Simonik the developer. Let me tell you why: For example, the mere fact that the mirroring connects - and stays connected to another iPhone or pad - the way it does is way superior to the other apps I tried so far. This is very important since it’s just not easy to scan 360° objects without having a projection of what is being scanned in real time. Second, the vibration mode is an excellent indicator of the scanning process and status. If tracking is lost, it’s easy to know without having to look at the iPhone’s screen, and saves time. Third, the accuracy and definition of the scans are very high with the Face ID mode and the option to share/save/upload them to a dropbox folder is a very helpful feature. Fourth, the adjustability of the precision and range features enable the user to customize the app for the next scan. Fifth, being able to start or stop a scanning project by using the upper Volume button is really helpful. Finally, the quality of the support and responsiveness from Mr. Simonik are simply incredible. If I could give a 6th star, I would. Thank You.
