paid for lifetime... "blah blah... development is costly... blah blah new features... blah blah... legacy still functions same..
“Why my purchases from the Legacy app are not restored on the new app?” “As mentioned above, the Legacy app will continue to work normally, as is, so your purchases are and will always be yours. With that being said, by AppStore rules purchases cannot be carried over between apps. In case the new app has value to you, items will need to be purchased separately.” This is their way of stealing from you. I bought a lifetime version of the app then they make a new version of the app to get more purchases for new features and blame Apple. They could’ve just updated this one. So now I need to buy the “lifetime version” of the new app. Then they’ll make a new app with new features and want us to buy that too. Fool me once I guess. I won’t buy anything else from this developer. Thanks for lying about a lifetime App. By the way the new app has lifetime feature you can buy. Why not just charge more in the first place? At least I wouldn’t have to buy a new version. Buy a new “lifetime” purchase. And migrate all my previous work?
Bought the app, then an update locked the import/export features behind an additional paywall. After this they stopped supporting the app and released a “new version” that you yet again have to pay for. Good app, but steer clear unless you like to have to keep shelling out as they lock new features behind more and more money
A friend showed me this app and after I got it I’ve never looked back. The scanner and storage system is near perfect in my opinion. I have a broken camera and it still works. My only wish is that I wish it had a feature where you could search your collection for cards that do certain things, like a scryfall search engine. Something that would allow me to search my entire inventory for certain effects rather than having to find cards online, learn their name, then see if I have them. If a feature like that came out, it would be an instant 5 stars.
Good years ago but has been outstripped by competitors in accuracy, speed and features. The developer was willing to take your cash for it but has abandoned it to make a “newer” app you have to pay for again. There are better alternatives out there.
I understand that the developer has moved on to a new version of this app, but that was pretty recently and already things are starting to break in the old app. For example, most of my collection currently has price: ? Instead of a value, and over the last few days the number of cards with a price has continued to decline.
Amazing job with this app. It is just beautiful!
Definitely worth the price for unlimited scanning and advanced CSV export. We have thousands of MtG cards so it saved a TON of time getting our cards categorised. There are a couple improvements that would cause me to five-star it: 1. A “select all” button when moving/deleting. You have to select each card one-by-one to move or delete. 2. Recognise the set symbol when scanning. It only gets the set right about 50% of the time, so you spend extra time after each scan searching and selecting the right set, which adds up tremendously when scanning a large amount of cards. I get that pre-6th edition there weren’t set symbols, so obviously not those. 3. Scan into different binders. All my scans go to Owned Cards, and although I can move cards into binders, they don’t actually move out of Owned Cards. It would be nice if they did, and it would be even nicer if I could scan directly into a binder. Still, I’d recco this app every time. A solid buy.
The scanner works, but the sorting options are complete gibberish. Sort by rarity? Ok! Obviously the order by rarity is common, mythic, rare, uncommon… what??? The rarity sort is literally by the *alphabetical* order of the names of the rarities. Complete nonsense. Same with things like sorting by color. Definitely not WUBRG order. Go ahead and use this to scan your cards easily, but then for your own sanity immediately export them to another app where you have ways to manage your collection which actually make sense.
I've used Helvault for years now, and I've tested just about every scanner for iOS and desktop. This is the one. I don't often spend money on apps, but I bought both the lifetime scanner and the advanced CSV export, and don't regret it one bit. I use the app at least once a week, and highly recommend it to anyone on iOS that comes asking about scanners.
