AP80 Pro X connection drops repeatedly

heb1001 UK on

Vereinigtes Königreich

Have spent 10 minutes with this app. I have a 512GB card in my AP80 Pro X with a few thousand tracks in FLAC, some hires. The app discovers the music on the device and allows it to be selected and played but the connection drops repeatedly and, every time it drops, the artist list starts back at the top. This makes it difficult to scroll down to get to artists at the end of the alphabet. There is a scroll bar on the right hand edge of the screen to scroll faster but that just causes the app to exit immediately so it doesn’t help. The app needs to make the connection drop and reestablish invisible to the user (unless the connection can’t be reestablished within a few seconds). I’ll wait for another update before trying the app again, it’s not good enough to use with these basic flaws. I quite like the AP Pro X though (with 7Hertz Timeless AE IEMs).

Great Hi-Res music player

This app is great for playing hi-res music. I have used it with local hi-res flac files with track replaygain and playback to wireless and wired headphones without experiencing any issues. I’ve also used it with the hiby fc1 dac and the dac had the correct colors for each type of song, blue for under 48khz and green for higher. The feature I like the most is the icons for CD and HR for hi-res on each track in the list. Makes it easy to find the highest res songs in a playlist or directory. It’s also very easy to play local files and it’s one of the very few free apps I’ve found that clearly states will play hi-res and gives you all the local file playback flexibility, without any adds. The only other app that comes close to that is Foobar but hiby’s UI is much nicer and intuitive. My Thanks to the developers of this app!

Worst app ever!

I hope that the devs of this player realize that this app is totally appalling. Numerous bugs and crashes. No updates or fixes are expected so app has been deleted. I wonder if the devs of this player take pride in this product? Not suitable for iOS.

no joy

Hiby only lets one use music held in the ios music area. All my music is held in VLC, and the radio streams are from BBC Sounds, VLC, and TuneIn. I had hoped to buy some Hiby hardware (FC5 or FD3) and send from TuneIn etc to a HiBy device, but seems this won't work. Pity.

Genuinely horrible app

Matt Regrets Buying Hiby on

Hiby should be ashamed for bringing such a sub-standard product to market. I’ve been struggling with this wretched app for 2 years. Can’t wait to have the money to replace it. - Terrible connectivity. A complete lottery when opening as to whether it will connect to WiFi and Bluetooth. Sometimes it connects, often it doesn’t. - It loses WiFi after connection - a lot. Reconnects automatically then disconnects a few seconds later, then repeat. Songs/artist/album has to re-load each time it disconnects and reconnects, rendering it unusable. Sometimes holds on to the WiFi connection but it’s a lottery. - When you want to go onto another app on your iPad, HibyLink shuts down. Music keeps playing or - quite often - skips a track. Another lottery. Also means you have to reconnect when you go back onto the app. - No instructions, anywhere. Oh, there’s a crap video on the HiByMusic website, which covers approx 2% of the features. - Every time you turn it off then on, you have to wait 2-3 minutes while it updates the firmware. Every time. - Plenty of other issues. The player itself is quite good. The app to control it is a disaster as far as I’m concerned. Really can’t recommend buying a Hiby product off the back of my experiences - seems to me poor quality control and it will sap your will to live.

Pretty Freakin Good

Using this with an irulu F20. The irulu has its issues, namely a poor interface and menu system, but when linked to this app, all that just goes away. It connects easily and reliably, and then its just a matter of plugging yourself in, sticking your player in your pocket and then browsing and playing tracks by using the hiby app to control everything. Its not a bad player in its own right either, but to get the best out of it, its definitely worth linking it to a decent flac or mp3 player.

Potential but not working

This looks and sounds like a good App but no matter what I do I can't get it to play more than 1 track before it stops.
