iOrnament Pro – art, fun, calm

I love this app so much.

This app has some very cool features but unfortunately they are overshadowed by the clunkiness of operation and the amount of bugs. I have only created about 10 mandalas so far but have lost 4 of them already. They just went poof after trying to save them.

The first version (pink background) works flawlessly! The new pro version is buggy. I contacted the developer letting them know the tile save function is not working for all symmetries and the did reply but it’s still not fixed. Unable to leave the app and then open it again and continue with a design as it then loads wrong (design is skewed and colours are off with inability to change it in the settings...ie. background now is pink and no way to change it. Using design mode and adding a single design the the existing design puts it on a new layer and won’t work when you go back to the original symmetry. Once design is saved it rarely reloads properly. Due to these instabilities it’s pretty much become useless. Tried reinstalling and same thing plus I lost any designs that were working in the process. Hope these are fixed soon as I would like to start using it again for my design work. The ability to save in larger formats would be a huge bonus, but please fix the other things first.

Good app, has a lot of features I like, I just wish they weren’t so buggy. Save as video only works a small fraction of the time. I also would like to see a proper gallery/project/file section to access finished work or wip.

It is laggy for me. I’m on iPad generation 5. And it sometimes the app crashes. So, if you can fix it, I would rate it a 4 star or 5 star.

I was so excited to have an app on the iPad that would allow for repeating images - it’s the biggest piece of my workflow forcing me back to the desktop. Sadly, this was misleading. The demos showed imported images in repeat - the exact feature I need, and one that is missing. While the description says you can import images, that is not entirely true - you can import AN image that will NOT be placed in repeat. It’s for tracing only. The inability to adjust the tile size and aspect ratio severely limits utility, especially when trying to create a detailed design. Exporting an image as transparent also shows sloppy edges and an inability to produce partial transparency-despite availability in the png format. In addition, the demoed gradient tool is missing, the stroke editing is clunky and only applies to the last stroke made, despite the program storing stroke data. There is no ability to move strokes or pixels - you have to redraw and erase. All that said, it is a fun toy, the UI is mostly smooth, and the gold and glitter functions a cute addition, and the mathematical explanations interesting. If the limitations were clear, I’d give it 4 or 5 stars, but the misleading demos and missing common features result in significant deductions.

I have downloaded MANY apps like iOrnament Pro but always return to iOrnament Pro to relax and create. Great app - great features - such fun!

The latest 2.0 version introduces groundbreaking features, such as the innovative Pencil Case, streamlining access to preset brushes and textures while enabling the storage of custom pencils for future projects. In particular, the app’s brush versatility and ability to achieve a three-dimensional look are standout features that enhance and stimulate the creative process. Even though in all the years of use I find it incredibly reliable, I have also learned that if I ever ran into an issue, I can count on quick response and help. All in all, iOrnament transcends all expectations as an art and graphic design app, offering a comprehensive creative experience that caters to diverse artistic needs. While its updates continue to push boundaries, it remains a reliable companion for unleashing artistic expression. Last but not least, the price for the app is more than fair - truly well worth it.
