Beschreibung

iWordQ US (English) is an easy-to-use writing and reading application to assist struggling writers and readers.
In Writing mode, a simple text editor is used for writing with the support of word prediction, abbreviation-expansion and speech feedback features. Spell-check and dictionary access is included. You can also use speech recognition.
In Reading mode, text is shown in a more visually pleasing manner to improve readability. This is used for proofreading, reading to learn, silent reading, reading aloud, and casual reading/listening. A novel text chunking method (patent-pending) can be selected to enhance comprehension and readability of text to allow you to focus on one text chunk at a time.
WRITING MODE
>Word Prediction:
Predicted words are displayed as you type. Tap a predicted word to select it. Usage examples are provided to help distinguish close-sounding words (including homonyms). Even if you are creative in your spelling, iWordQ will still predict. As you move the text cursor, predictions are shown accurately.
>Speech Feedback:
Touch and hold a predicted word to hear it spoken with high-quality text-to-speech. Words typed or selected from the prediction list will be read out loud. As you complete each sentence by adding punctuation it will be read back to you when you tap 'space'. Selected text can also be spoken with word-by-word highlighting. Double-tap a word to select a word; drag to extend selection. Double-tap to select a paragraph. Select Speech button to display a speech review control and advance forward and backward by sentences/words.
>Abbreviation-Expansion:
Use your own customized abbreviation-expansions, also known as text macros, to simplify your writing. Abbreviations are also shown in the prediction list. Expansions can include any character including punctuation and multiple paragraphs.
>Sharing
Text documents are saved automatically and are retrieved from the File menu. Dropbox support is included for sharing documents across systems. Documents may also be shared through several other connections, including e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, Message, the pasteboard, and opening in other Apps.
READING MODE
The iPad onscreen keyboard is hidden and your current sentence from the Writing mode is shown in black text with the surrounding text in grey to focus attention on the current sentence. Select any another sentence by tapping it.
>Proofreading:
Listen for mistakes while sentences are spoken. Tap an individual word to highlight it and hear it spoken. This is useful to hear whether a word sounds correct. It may be spelled incorrectly, may be in the wrong form, or it may simply be the wrong word. Touch and swipe across more than one word to highlight a group of words that will be spoken out when you lift your finger. This is useful to hear whether word combinations are correct.
>Reading to learn:
Use the patent-pending Text Chunking to focus on text chunks or segments (rather than individual words) and add breathing space to comprehend your text before moving on. This is intended to mimic a good public speaker. When you tap within a sentence, a segment about that point will be highlighted and spoken. When playing a sentence, a pause is inserted after each text chunk to allow you to catch up before listening to the next one.
>Reading out loud:
Use iWordQ like a teleprompter and read out loud at the same pace as if spoken by iWordQ or read out loud at your own pace. Sentences (and text chunks) will be highlighted as you move through the text.
>Reading silently:
Turn speech feedback off and read out silently at the same pace as if spoken by iWordQ or read silently at your own pace. Sentences (and text chunks) will be highlighted as you move through the text.
>Casual reading:
Tap the first sentence to identify the starting point. Then play the sentences either automatically or manually.

No longer works

The app no longer works on either of my iPad Pros. Everything seems fine, but it no longer shows the word choices for text prediction. The slots are empty, but if you click on them, it reads the invisible word. Both of these iPads have been upgraded to IOS 13.

No speech to text

Read the info and have an iPad 3 and 4...saw nothing to make speech recognition work. Otherwise this is a great app!

Not so good

I use Word Q on my laptop and I love it. The iPad version has many problems. The speech is too fast and cannot be changed. I don't speak and if I want people to hear what I typed they don't understand. There is no letter by letter feedback. There is no way to delete files i don't want anymore. My inquiries were never responded. Posting a review here has been a hassle

Thank you for larger font!

The larger font in word prediction is a big help to my students with visual perception difficulties. This has been very intuitive for my students to learn.

Awesome word prediction program!

Excellent word prediction and read back features. Great for students to use when composing, editing or communicating.

I use this app all the time!

I am using this all with special ed students all the time. I agree about the need for bigger fonts. I can enlarge the fonts in the main writing screen but I would also like to enlarge the font for the predicted words.

Too Much FoR Me

I bought this App because it was the most expensive, so I assumed it would have more of what I needed, but I was wrong. It has many options that I don't need, but it was my fault for not checking. Go to App support and watch the videos on who this App is for. READ/WRITER On first assessment, this App seems to be designed for lazy not-so-smart college students wanting to write a paper, but who requires remedial help; however, this App would benefit certain students with ADD/ADHD and/or types of autism, or people making a "talking" presentation. There are cheaper Apps that does what I need. I need a reliable text to speech App that's basically an MS Word that speaks. For me, "Speakit!" and "Voice Dream" are better values. OPTION I LIKE that "Speakit!" and "Voice Dream" don't have is the ability to modify the pronunciation of specific words that are misread or mispronounced. This App has many options that "Speakit!" and "Voice Dream" don't have, but it's not for me. I'm keeping because I paid for it and I my need the speech pronunciation option if I should write speaking files in a different language. Who ever designed this App worked hard, and the quality shows through. I may end up eating my words. SPEECH/WRITER I don't need, so I did not use, so if you like speech to text, please don't rely on this review. The "reader voice" sounds like Steven Hawkings hyped up on caffeine. I like Mr. Hawkings and caffeine, but not together reading to me.

I have cerebral palsy and am a writer. I love the word prediction. It has made my life so much easier. $25 makes it very doable!

High quality word prediction app for the iPad

Balter on

Students who have difficultly with writing may benefit from having word prediction. There are expensive PC/Mac programs that will do this, but until this app, I hadn't found one for the iPad that worked well enough for actual student use. iWordQ is the best of the bunch, and is the one I recommend to teachers, and special educators. For students who have difficulty with text, this app will speak a word without adding it to their text. For some commonly misunderstood words, you can even listen to a sentence that uses the word in context, before adding it to your writing. The reading tools are very well done, and the app switches between writing and reading modes quickly. $25 may seem like a lot to pay for an app, but it has some of the same functions as software costing over $300. I highly recommend this app.
