Jam Family Calendar

I've been using Jam for about a month now and finally felt ready to come on here and write a review. I’ve been searching for a great family calendar/organization app for a few years and nothing has ever really stuck. We’ve used Google Cal most of all, but it doesn’t really work for a family of 3 kids going different directions every day. Here are the things that have made Jam work for us: 1) Ability to pick who in the family is going to events – the quick tap to mark who is going and who does not need to go to events is so easy. It helps us all see where everyone needs to be each day and helps my husband better understand which events he is responsible for being at or driving our kids to. 2) The Colors/Columns – lots of apps have different colors, but Jam has the color/column combo that makes it again super helpful to see what everyone has that day. You can also filter it to see just for yourself or certain calendars which is also helpful because sometimes the schedules can get really intensive and I just want to see the events I need to be part of. 3) Forward Events to Jam – This was originally why I downloaded the app. I saw a video of someone sending a whole school calendar to Jam and all the events ended up on the calendar. I have 3 kids at 3 different schools (!!!!)so this one was super exciting to me. Literally all you do is forward the emails. There were one or two times where I had to make sure it was assigned to the right family members, other than that Jam got everything onto the calendar perfectly and even added things we needed to bring. I use this all the time now – any email I get with events for our family I just forward to Jam. 4) To Do Lists – they don’t have the crazy deep functionality that some to do list features have (sub-lists and a million categorizations) but I actually love that about this. It’s so easy to quickly add a bunch of things to the list in a minute. I can make as many lists as I want, share some with the family, keep some private just to me and I get reminders every morning of the things that absolutely must get done that day. 5) Shopping List – again, if you want the most detailed shopping list app of all time there may be others, but this is perfect for family usage. My husband got on board right away adding things to the list as does my oldest son. We have lists for every grocery store we go to and so if someone ends up at the shop, they know what to do. 6) Caregiver Permissions – We have a babysitter who helps us

I was excited to try this app as I am a long time user of cozi, but have recently switched. I think jam has a lot of potential. I really love that it includes driving time and you can assign a driver. I also love that it has read-only accounts for younger kids as this has been a pain point for us. However, I don’t think it is quite there yet and I will be sticking to family wall for now. But I will check back on Jam when my subscription is up because I think it has great potential. The things that don’t work for me are: I have six people in my family. There are limited colors and some are very similar (pink vs coral, light vs dark blue). I don’t feel like the palette is enough for six people. I want to tell at a glance who is doing what. On that note, I want to be able to have a separate color for birthdays/anniversaries so I can see them coming up, but I don’t see a way to choose color at all. It is only based on who is participating. But grandma’s birthday is different than us all going to see a concert, or even everyone attending a birthday party. Recurring events are not as easy to set up as in other apps. I have to make it a custom recurrence to have an end date and almost every thing we do has an end date so I find that a bit cumbersome. I also prefer to be able to choose my default calendar view. It defaults to day view every time I open the app. For six people, this is not the view I will ever use. I will either use monthly or schedule. Most apps default to whatever you last used. And when I click on an individual day in monthly view, it also takes me to daily view and not schedule. I just find daily view extremely hard to use to get a good overview of everything the kids are doing. It’s all listed individually and only two people per page so there is a lot of scrolling. Which it’s great they offer a diversity of views, but less great the one that doesn’t work for me is one I’m stuck with. Monthly view also only shows 3 items per day which is low compared to other apps. Family wall shows 6. So for these reasons, I don’t think it currently will work for me.

My parents got this app and invited me to join. It’s so easy to use - I have all my plans on there and everyone knows what’s going on. We kept track of all my school and college app deadlines. They can also tag me if I need to drive or pick up my younger brothers and all in all it’s a lot less drama for everyone. We used ti always miss things and now that never happens!

Jam is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I work full time and my husband travels most weeks for work — between our son’s school schedule, sports schedule and of course our dog (like another child!) our lives are super hectic. Jam helps us all know what’s up everyday, my son included. I especially love the feature where you send things to Jam and it ends up on the calendar!!

My wife and I were looking for a better way to stay on top of all the logistics of our schedules - work, kids, sports, etc. Jam is far above any other calendar app we have ever tried. The ability to tag who is going, who is driving and the smart reminders are key. Lists are a major plus. Happily surprised with this one

Jam has simplified our family's life immensely. It's more than just a calendar—it's our lifesaver!

I’ve used many todo lists before and calendar apps and I can definitely that Jam is great because it’s geared to families. The calendar is setup for each family member with a “pickup” and “drop off” option. I forward all my kids school emails to Jam to be processed. And at this point my wife and I could not live without the “to bring” feature on every calendar event

This app has been so helpful in getting us organized. I love that I can assign tasks to my husband whether it’s grocery shopping or when he needs to pick up our daughter from daycare. Just helps to have everything we need one place. Def worth a download!

Jam’s unique interface and family-focused design make this app so practical and useful for families. The dev team is also consistently improving the experience. Well worth the low cost for a great functionality, particularly for parents with kids.

I have been using this app for almost 4 months. I have really enjoyed how user friendly and intuitive it is. It has made things more efficient in our household. Being able to see various family members schedules and delegate responsibilities has been so helpful. I would definitely recommend using this app!
