I’ve been disappointed with Ultimate Guitar (which I pay for) and a every other app that I’ve tried. I started developing my own app but this already has all the things a musician would need like the ability to easily search for and import chord pro formatted songs, edit lyrics and chords, organize set lists and my favorite feature, airplay projection (I use an external monitor). The only additional feature that I might use is a web based editor but even without it, I would still pay for this app.

I’m really really impressed so far, and I’ll write more after I’ve had a chance to actually use this for playing live. The old-school process was to print out a bunch of songs with the lyrics and chords, put them in a binder, and put the binder on a music stand. This app allows you to do that, and much more…but the most important thing is, it needs to do the basics well: allow you to organize and flip through songs using your iPad as a virtual 3-ring binder. I think some of the other apps have lost sight of that fundamental need. This app seems to do it very well.

I have some songs I sounded out in chordpro format. I was hosting a web site to store and view them but this is so much better. On top of that it can transpose, and simulate a capo and it remembers your settings for each song. As if that wasn’t enough there’s a tuner, and metronome, and you can import songs from an internet search across many websites! And if there’s an error you can just edit your copy. No ads or restrictions but I still paid for this app, it’s that amazing.

This app is very useful for songwriters working in a DAW environment. In addition to working standalone, the AUv3 version serves as a perfect sidekick to work on lyrics and capture chord progressions. The developer actively supports the app, and is very responsive to feedback. 👍👍
