KAYA: THE CLIMBER’S APP

I don’t use guidebooks anymore because of this app. It’s so much easier to find stuff with GPS coordinates and reference photos and videos. Very impressed with what these folks have created. Thanks KAYA team!

pls google stale-while-revalidate, there's no reason i need to put my phone in airplane mode to access data i explicitly downloaded. also the topo lines are not very useful if you don't load the image they're supposed to overlay

I loved that I was told about this app by a few climbers and it’s been helpful to log in sends (to track what I did), see what people may think a route or problem is before they’re released, and find some new routes.

I love having the ability to track what climbs I’ve sent and number of attempts, and to see what beta other climbers have used. My only complaint is that the “workload” metrics don’t account for differences in pitch but rely instead solely on v-grades. Still, a great app and one I use every time I go climb.

I'm a new (ish) climber, and when someone finally told me about Kaya, It opened my world up. Very helpful, great community. Love this app and use it every time I climb. Someone else said it in another review, but they are absolutely working to improve all the time and I can't ask for much more. Quick shout-out to Eric and his team! Appreciate you!

Much better than other climbing apps because they show graphics of the lines on the boulders instead of just descriptions. Well worth getting the pro subscription too!!

This is one of the worst things to happen to climbing. This level of information available to masses is not a good thing. Areas can’t sustain the level of traffic. Areas that are closed get accessed “well the app says it’s there”. Areas being closed because of this app and others like it. Do not support

Once I figured out how to navigate the app, it had a lot of good information on how to get to the boulders and I liked that I could see beta videos for the climbs

Really appreciate that these guys are working with local guidebook authors to help bring information to people in a way that’s sustainable and ethical. A service like this has a lot of potential to do good or bad, so I’m glad the people behind the curtains are real rock climbers that know the landscape and hopefully can keep trying to maximize the good and minimize the bad.

I honestly don’t know where to begin. It is extremely unoriginal and even has pointed users towards routes that aren’t meant for climbing. Makes things worse for other climbers. Wish I could give it zero stars. 👎👎👎
