How to Access Cinema Soundbar and Fives, Sevens, and Nines Virtual Remote Capabilities:
Cinema 1200, 800, and 700
Virtual Remote Control and EQ features require the soundbar be running the latest update. This normally happens automatically when the soundbar has been connected to the Internet, either via Klipsch Connect or Google Home. If your device has not been connected to the Internet, please contact our Product Support Team for assistance. See details below.
The Fives, The Sevens, and The Nines, including McLaren Editions
Virtual Remote Control and EQ features require the powered monitors be running the latest update. If you have not updated your Fives already, please download the free "Klipsch The Fives Updater" app. This will walk you through the update process. After the update is complete, all future updates will come through Klipsch Connect. Our Product Support team can walk you through the entire process. Simply reach out to us at:

Sadly, this app is a total failure. Even trying to connect to ‘Klipsch Support’ is broken. It appears to be a discontinued line with no adequate support. Using this software feels like I’ve stepped back in time. For a premium priced product I expected more, a lot more.

Every time I download this app I can use it once before the app freezes on the opening screen no matter what I do. I have to download it again and re-register and re-name the product. FIX THIS!

The new EQ options are a step in the right direction but we’re not there yet. Connectivity between the app and the speaker is slow and clunky but when connected, everything works well. If you leave the app, it needs to reconnect every time… even if music continues to play. Bass has become super bloated (via a subwoofer) since the new EQ settings. I’ve had to wind the gain right back.

Technical Support Techniques

This company seems to have some unique technical support techniques. You would follow the proper channels requesting support via the app. Two weeks later you will get an acknowledgement and you will never hear anything from them. This has happened four times already. Never again.

EQ Profiles?

I'm sure it's already been covered in other reviews about the re-connection issues. But it also seems strange I can't creat various EQ profiles. One "custom" profile is insufficient for, say, having a profile I use while watching movies vs listening to music (not to mention the possibility having personalized profiles for various music styles).

Internet Required?!

It is so annoying how the app needs to “download required content” every time it launches. If you need to use airplane mode because of flying or simply don’t have data/wifi…too bad, you can’t use the app. And sometimes the update hangs at 100% and won’t finish, making you restart the app. Why can’t the dev just use a push notification when updates are available, or when the app is open? I don’t have these problems with my Bose headphones and this finicky bad app is definitely going to discourage me from buying Klipsch Bluetooth products in the future. Edit in reply to app dev comment: yes I have auto update enabled, the app still needs internet to check for updates every time it opens. It isn’t smart enough to progress with current software if the update check fails (e.g. no internet while flying)

Complicated and hard to use

Takes forever to update and setup. Speakers disconnect all the time and rarely work. Pretty sad for how much money I spent on them.

I use this app with the Klipsch Cinema 800. It does what it does just fine. But then it disconnects and there is no other solution than to unplug the soundbar to do a reset. Meh.
