LANG: Learn New Languages

I found this via a BBC news article about AI powered language learning but from a quick play couldn’t tell where the AI was - it all seemed to be structured around a fixed set of content and lesson progressions as all apps are. The voices seemed recorded and not AI generated. Where is the AI? Curious mix of illustrations and stock photography Sometimes the text translations are very small and hard to read. Sometimes the answers are translated and sometimes they aren’t eg in conversations. The app asked if I wanted to improve my speaking but I didn’t get to practice saying anything The constant nag screens are annoying but hey… I get they want to sell subscriptions

LANG is a really easy to use and helpful tool to get a basic understanding of Spanish and to familiarise yourself with grammar and vocabulary. It’s fun and interesting and free! There are a few things that could be improved though: - it’s a very basic app with no frills (there’s no way to view or change your information or even to upgrade to the paid app). It feels like a beta test version of an app - you earn crystals for streaks and you eventually earn dragons, but there’s nowhere to view what you’ve collected (it’s the little things!🤣) - there’s no speech recognition part of the app which other language apps sometimes have - today I couldn’t progress any further; after my last test for the level I was on there was nowhere else to progress to. It just stopped. No warning. Curious. In all, a nice, fun start to understanding Spanish, but there are better ways and means that are more effective in the long term.
