There are over 16 million people who speak Khmer. It has no tones. Khmer and Vietnamese are related, belong to the same language family. By the way, the language of Vietnamese has complex tones.
The Khmer writing system is very old (since 7th century). Thus, the form is more complicated than those of neighboring countries. The Khmer alphabet is the longest alphabet in the world, consisting of 74 letters.
