I have the desktop version of this app and both are proving to be great help! Only on first words at the moment mind, but so far so good

Still disappointing

As others have already indicated the presentation is polished but the context and precision is poor. I bought this thinking I was getting a comprehensive range of Welsh phrases and it turns out that the fundamental ones are missing. You get the categories you see on the first screen which is limited to say he least. Compared to other cheaper apps not good value for money.

It's an ideal app for those learning Welsh. The long list of phrases is especially useful.

Good vocab drills, but errors and issues

First of all the app would have you believe that 'iawn' is Welsh for 'yes' – it isn't. There is no single word for 'yes' in Welsh; you answer in the context of the tense and verb used in the question. For example, 'Oes car da ti?' Oes/Nac oes. (Do you have a car? Yes/No). Of all the words that exist for 'yes' 'iawn' isn't even one of them! 'Iawn' means 'very', as in 'da iawn' meaning 'very good'. Likewise there isn't a single word for 'no', though a lot of Welsh and English speakers in Wales would use 'Na' for 'no'. In addition the application doesn't make any reference to whether the dialect used is North Walian or South Walian (Gogledd or De). This is important as the dialects in each area vary quite a lot. For example, the app uses 'Mae'n drwg gen i' for 'sorry', which is North Walian. Speakers in the south would use 'Mae'n flin da fi'. Other phrase constructions aren't ones that would be familiar to learners. That said, the vocab drills are good, very helpful for fixing useful vocab in your head. It's a bit pricey as most apps go, that might be a function of the fact that fewer people are interested in learning Welsh than, say, French. It's a well put together app though. My only other gripe would be that some of the images used to represent phrases can be confused with other images, or are ambiguous. As others have mentioned it also has quite a limited amount of vocabulary, particularly for £6. Hopefully future updates will expand on this, or provide a means to purchase extra vocab; though at £6 they should provide some for free. Overall, if you are learning Welsh this is useful for getting basic words in to your head (but not 'yes' and 'no'), but some of the phrases may confuse you.
