Legend of Grimrock is a dungeon crawling role playing game with an oldschool heart but a modern execution. A group of prisoners are sentenced to certain death by exiling them to the secluded Mount Grimrock for vile crimes they may or may not have committed. Unbeknownst to their captors, the mountain is riddled with ancient tunnels, dungeons and tombs built by crumbled civilizations long perished now. If they ever wish to see daylight again and reclaim their freedom the ragtag group of prisoners must form a team and descend through the mountain, level by level.
The game brings back the oldschool challenge with highly tactical real-time combat and grid-based movement, devious hidden switches and secrets as well as deadly traps and horrible monsters. Legend of Grimrock puts an emphasis on puzzles and exploration and the wits and perception of the player are more important tools than even the sharpest of swords could be. And if you are a hardened dungeon crawling veteran and you crave an extra challenge, you can arm yourself with a stack of grid paper and turn on the Oldschool Mode which disables the luxury of the automap! Olde school mode!
This game rocks and is an amazing fit for iPad. It is hardly an RPG, but rather a dungeon crawler in the old style. Grid, semi turn based, and your whole party walks as a whole unit. Be warned, it is truly close to its 'Eye of the beholder' roots. Plenty of secrets (not for the 100% crrowd without a walkthrough), many non obvious yet mandatory moves, a decidely non modern food mechanic adding time pressure on you, and is harder even on normal than most modern games (although definitely not souls-like). It even has an 'olde school mode' which allows access to a single weapon or magic for every character (requiring you to swap in inventory if you run out of energy) and *it disables the map*. In a grid, dark dungeon, where every wall looks like the other. I did it accidentally and definitely got a more pen-and-paper, authentic experience, at the cost of running to and fro trying to return to a past location).
The best thing that happened to iOS
I love Legend of Grimrock, played it and finished on PC a couple of times, but having a chance to wander the depths of Mount Grimrock while sitting on my throne is my dream come true. Great job, waiting for LoG 2!
Language options required
Game itself is great, but I'd love to see more language options.

Jeśli ktoś uważa, ze na komórkę nie ma dobrych i poważnych gier powinien zagrać choćby w tą. Jestem olbrzymim fanem przenoszenia klasycznych gier sprzed lat na iphone - gier, w które nie miałem i nie mam czasu grać w domu. Ten port jest bardzo dobry.
Co do samej rozrywki - głównym zarzutem jest dla mnie brak instrukcji oraz zbyt wyśrubowany poziom trudności zagadek zręcznościowych - ale nie musi się ich pokonac by skończyć grę. Czekam niecierpliwie na kolejne wersje klasyków.
PS w takich grach widać przewagę iphone - nigdy żadna mi się nie zacięła, zapłaciłem trochę ale nie mam zbędnych reklam a gra działa jak powinna

Zdecydowanie jedna z najlepszych gier na iOS. Nie przepadam za tego rodzaju grami, jednak Grimrock wciągnął mnie na długo. Warto dodać, że jest to chyba najlepsza wersja gry. Sterowanie dotykowe bije na głowę te znane z PC.
