Too bad that there’s no iPad optimized version.
I use LibraryThing online, on my pc or this app on my Ipad. It helps me to keep track of my books and avoid duplicate purchases. LibraryThing is nearly always “on to” new books via amazon or national libraries and therefore i copy their book descriptions via the isbn. Very helpful indeed. I also support adding the category “wishlist” for books that you find in a friends collection, the bookstores or online and that you would like to handle later, although I can add such category in my own classification. Overall a good app. Rarely do i have problems, and if any, then my wifi connection is to blame.
I absolutely adore this app! I have so many books that it’s sometimes hard to remember which one I have and which ones I don’t, so this is the prefect solution. I would like to see another option in the app that you can add your ‘wanted’ books to though, that’d make my 4 stars shoot up to 5!
Leuke app. Tot nu toe altijd alleen via website moeten werken. App is prima idee maar ik kan wel inloggen maar geen connectie maken met server.
Please add an app for the iPad. Using the iPhone version on a larger tablet is crazy - it’s just too small.
As a place to see what books you own? It good. However it lacks almost all the features that the website has which is fairly disappointing. It would even be better if the viewing of books could be seen in the way the website does, like Dewy or Library of Congress.
The website is wonderful, but the app often crashes or freezes on both my phone and tablet, and the barcode scanner consistently causes the app to stop working. It would be much more useful as an app if the barcode worked and we’re not so slow.
I love LibraryThing. I’ve used the web version pretty much since they started, and I purchased the lifetime membership shortly afterward. But one key feature, pretty much the only feature that I want in a mobile version, is missing: sort by call number. It boggles the mind that the primary benefit of accessing one’s library like this is not a feature of the mobile app. Sure, the covers of my books look great, but why would anyone need to sort by “date added” or “rating”? If you’re organizing a large personal library, which has long been LT’s strength, call number is key.
The only things that I’d like to improve are being able to scan mass market books into the app and being able to import titles and etc from our Nook and Kindle libraries.
