Lingvist: Learn Languages Fast

The application itself is good, but the Danish course is full of issues. 1. The main deck has 3000+ words leading to less than helpful learning in the beginning. 2. You cannot create custom cards like other courses. 3. The grammar/word types is very inconsistent and often outright incorrect. 4. When adding a "favorite" from the learning portion of the app you're shown the same info splash screen every time. 5. They're now starting promotional in-app ads which I feel is unnecessary to see every time you open the app. There are many more small issues and thus, I wouldn't recommend it for the Danish course.

If you’re serious about learning a language and do not require a mascot to hold your hand, this app is great. It’ll teach you the most frequently used words in context with spaced repetition, which is what you need and how you need it, for the vocabulary part of your language learning. Pros: It works! Do 50 cards/day and you’ll really feel the progress. The statistics are great You can tap words to have them read out Japanese was added just when I needed it Grammar tables Cons: The audio session is not handled correctly on iOS, so the mic stops working when you switch over from another app that uses it (like the native Translate app), requiring a forced restart of Lingvist The contextual words can’t be selected, so you can’t copy or look them up Overall the best app I’ve tried for vocabulary. I hope work is being done to integrate AI. Limitless possibilities. P.S. Thank you for bringing the flags back! They look better, make it way easier to navigate and were never a real problem.

I tried this out with a subscription. Turns out Duolingo is a million times better at actually teaching a language. Lingvist doesn't even come close.

The app was used for the learning Japanese. The app is very monotone. It’s just repeating the same thing every day, namely answering questions without deeper explanation of grammar or vocabulary. It shows your number of words one has learned but it’s impossible to see which words.

It does the job but it doesn’t much languages to choose from comparing to MANY apps out there. And if you are like me who wants to learn Korean, this app ain’t for you. They ain’t got it. If you are however learning German, French, Spanish and em’ other beautiful languages, have fun!

I absolutely love the way you learn words in Lingvist, it’s very simple and far more effective than any other method I’ve tried. However, I think the method is used on the wrong words. We don’t need to know long and rare business words. I would get so much more use out of this app if you simply taught me the most used words, since that makes up the huge majority of language. I would be happy to pay extra just to get that as a course. Sincerely hope this becomes a feature in the future.

Love it however the sound for the pronunciations are really low for some reason.

This app is fantastic! Try it, I got hooked directly!
