Hype to flop
All this hype on social, preorder app, blah blah blah, then you out on phone and get wait listed. It’s worse than airport, stand in line to stand in line.

My Lipdub has been saying “translating your video” for like a week; not sure how to fix it though.
After being on a waitlist to download the app I finally was able to use it. I’ve been waiting for this app for a while and let me say it’s fun. I am native English and Spanish speaker so I’ve been testing translations from Spanish to English and vice versa to assess the accuracy of the translations. I don’t speak any other languages so best if I test the app this way. The translations are somehow accurate but there are a few things I noticed. When translating from Spanish to English the app translates with an accent that doesn’t even sound like a native Spanish speaker accent. It sounded more like an Hindu native speaker accent. Same thing happens when translating from English to Spanish, it does it with an English native speaking accent. This is funny but then it defeats the purpose of appearing to be native speaker in the language you are translating into. Also the words and or phrases it uses on the translation results sound very casual and sometimes very particular to what people from specific age, ethnic or cultural group will be using. That’s ok but it will be nice to be able to customize the translation result so it will represent better the person who is using the app (age, profesional or casual etc). This must be something difficult to accomplish but I guess if this is AI doing the work the model will learn and improve as we use the app. The length of time it takes for translating is quite long so it won’t be useful for a casual in the moment use. So far I am loving the app, it has a long way to go before it becomes perfect but it’s very promising.
won’t let me sign up. waited a few days for it to be fixed, still isn’t.
There a waits list to enter the app!!! Hahahahahaha!!!!! I’m number 18,266 This is a language app…. NOT SECTION 8!! 😂😂
I signed up for this app, was put on the waiting list, and finally got to download the app. I unfortunately used the wrong email address to register with the app and as can result, I was put on a NEW waiting list. How can I de-register and register again with the correct email address?
App only says “oops, something went wrong”. Can’t get it to work, even after resetting app, phone etc.
I’ve been on “the waiting list” for over a week. Imagine being in another country, lost, needing help…. Well just you hold on. This app can solve all your problems is 10-12 weeks. 🙄
I tried the Tagalog option and checked it with my mom and she said it was saying something about bananas and a girl friend which was funnier than the thing I was actually saying. Good app
The first thing I noticed is that when I record a video in English, it adds/retains my American accent to the other languages. For example, my French pronunciation sounds very midwesterner and not at all Parisian. Moreover, on some of the results, I sounded French Canadian. A simple test of counting in Persian from 1-5 got the number three wrong! The pronunciation sounds like Urdu, or Pashtun and definitely not modern Tehrani Persian - where did you source the language? Dutch, takes the “KH” sound and makes it “SH”…
