I enjoyed using this app
Listening.io is a great innovation and I have enjoyed every bit of it. However, the app seems not to recognise formulas. It simply glosses over them or omits them entirely. Improvement on this is necessary
Overall it serves the purpose. I’d like it to recognize punctuation better, improve on recognizing how to read numbers in certain contexts (years are read as numbers) certain pronunciations, etc. Additionally, it’s pretty buggy with downloading files that I have shared in the app onto my mobile devices. As a highly auditory person with ADHD this app has been super helpful as I’ve been struggling to stay seated to actually read. Given the bugs, however, seems like the price is kind of high.
I use this to listen to my textbooks at work and to follow along with when I’m lazy or scattered. I don’t like: - Getting signed out when idle (or in the middle of renaming a pdf, which is was prompted me to write this review) - The fact that there is no consistent, reliable way to organize your pdfs. You can tag them, but there’s no way to access those tags on desktop or edit/delete them in general. I want folders to put my things in. It’s obvious. For $120 I don’t get FOLDERS? - I can’t see how long an audio file is once it’s uploaded. Again, this is an obvious flaw. - Does not distinguish between two unrelated texts, so if your pdf is in two columns, it’ll plow right through I do like: - You can skip to specific sections - You can add notes (this function is still extremely basic) - You can jump forward/backward 10 seconds - You can tap on the document to start from a specific word - Doesn’t read in text citations or references (literally the only reason why I decided to subscribe) - Adjustable reading paces I want: - FOLDERS - A way to see how long the audio file is in total - A better way of bookmarking specific passages - Not to be randomly signed out - LOWER COST $120 is robbery - Apple Watch compatibility - More intelligent AI
I originally loved this app but now everytime I try to open it it immediately closes costumer support was just a bot. Very disappointing
The voice I tried was decent. It took longer than I expected to upload the pdf. Main reason why I will not use is that the smoothness of the reading was terribly interrupted by reading super text numbers for citations (often in the wrong place, like it reads them as if they are on a different line). Also the pausing going between lines and other transitions is choppy. Could imagine getting used to it but it needs a lot of work.
Still gets the job done as far as the reading goes.
I’ve been using this app for about 4 months to listen to scholarly articles and it’s great. Works as promised; good at skipping content that doesn’t need to be read aloud; good at translating niche terms into audio. Highly recommend for anyone who has to read a lot of academic content.
This app has changed my life in the past year. Worth the subscription & it only continues to improve, especially across languages (I listen in Spanish & English). My unique complaint— for whatever reason the app doesn’t recognize words that start a sentence with th— and it spells it out as TH- whatever the ending is (-e, -is, -em). Would love someone to take a glance at that, seems like an important contribution, lol. Keep up the good work! Love to knock out other tasks while I am prepping for class, conferences, or otherwise!
I use this app for school. I listen to my textbooks while I’m driving. Considering that I pay for the app, It is frustrating because sometimes the app buffers, saying it is “processing” but never actual reads certain sections. Which forces me to read the text anyway. Also, if the app can’t read (due to buffering) then I also can’t highlight or save any notes. I wish I had full access to the text I download. If that glitch was fixed, I’d be good to go. Sometimes the audio will combine words together. But not
