Lo-Fly Dirt

An AUv3 Lo-Fi Audio Plugin

Veröffentlicht von: MSXII Sound Design

Beschreibung

An audio coloration utility plugin featuring individual modes for classic emulation of some iconic music production tools. This tool is meant to bring character, or "dirt" to your incoming audio signals. Save your own presets for instance recall of the sound you've created to find the "sweet spot" in your instruments and/or mixes.
Lo-Fly Dirt installs as an Audio Unit effect for hosts that support the format such as Audio Bus, Beatmaker 3, Garage Band, Cubasis, AUM, etc.
Default Mode:
Adds subtle character of the input sound. Simple saturation and light, preset compression are added to the overall sound bringing out unique tones & textures of your source audio. The wet/dry knob at the 100 or full position would leave source audio "warmed up."
60 Mode:
This preset mode is based on some of our favorite characteristics of an iconic drum machine. Activating this button should invite you to 12 bit nostalgia immediately boasting tasteful saturation, small amounts of compression, and a more rounded high end. Great on drums.
404 Mode [Green Light]:
One of our favorites, this mode is the only mode that should add subtle low-pass filtering to the input signal. This mode will apply low pass filtering at 12db per octave around 11.6Khz. The wet/dry knob will continue to filter the sound to no more than 200Hz. The signal will benefit from some additional signal boosting with minimal make-up gain and small amounts of bit rate reduction, or "dirt."
404 Mode [Orange Light]:
This mode brings the coveted vinyl simulation to Lo-Fly Dirt. Mix knob will tastefully add intensity to your track with it. Try using this mode on an aux/bus channel and send select sounds through it. Very cool stuff!
1200 Mode:
Also built around our love for another iconic drum machine, this mode brings great punch, character, and dirt to any signal it treats. Especially useful for drums and percussion based audio.
more punchier variation of the 60 mode. Enjoy 12 bit goodness by default, but additionally a boost the signals character by our dirt and boost in the low-mid frequencies.
8 Bit Mode:
Simply put, this mode brings back the classic sound of a legendary game console. We've added a bit of punch to the incoming signal and you're able to blend it with great 8 bit artifacts that will allow for some brand new creations...and fun!
SK- 5 Mode:
Also built off the things we love about the classic 8 bit sound, but with a twist...this mode adds HP filtering and punch! Instant dirt is applied when this mode is activated, high pass filtering and punch is applied as you move the signal from dry to wet. The HP filter is set to cutoff at 300Hz.

Worthwhile for some

The value is that it adds a certain kind of effect and if that kind of effect appeals to you then say no more. I am no big fan of that kind of effect, but my opinion of that type of effect does not discount the value of this app. So, at the risk of sounding obnoxiously repetitive, get this app if you are a fan of lo-fi noise. I remember well how CD quality clarity was embraced and that everyone trashed their tape players to run out to get CD players. Some of those same people now rave about that tape hiss, crackle and crap that they say they hated. It’s that fashion mentality. Fashion people have no taste of their own. They have to look up what they are supposed to like. Their fear is that they will like something that they are not supposed to like. How absurd is that? How absurd is our society. We thrive on trends. You can make the most money following trends so that you invest in the upcoming trends. No need to guess because marketing controls the hearts and minds of most of us. It’s not only music but everything, like cars. Terribly designed cars can easily be made to become the best sellers.imagine living off the grid. You would definitely not like what most people on the grid like because you would like what you honestly like, not an artificial list. Those people can find out what they will like before even knowing them. When I expose people they get very angry or laugh at my ridiculous way of thinking. They refuse to acknowledge their manipulated behaviour. It’s as if I am totally off track. Wild

Beautiful grit

This thing is straight dope. Since I started making music with software, saturation plugins have been crucial to emulate the sounds I was used to with hardware. This does the job and more. Definitely and inspiring sound design tool. Instant weight and grit.

Thank you to MSXII for putting out this indispensable app for any producer looking to add a layer of grit and dirt that most distortion effects just don’t do. I find myself using it on just about every production. The added presets have been wonderful (Goose Down in particular) I’ll be bumping the MSXII creations through AUM and KOALA from here on out. SALUTE 🦾

Great app. Saved some of my mixes when nothing else would do. Great support too. iOS GB bugs usually addressed with updates.

Must have

Absolutely one of the most needed apps to add sauce to any instrument and in any genre. And for this price it’s a steal. The developers are consistent with quality and quality control.

Latest update works great on iPad Pro

After the Update: Runs fine now and sounds as good as it ever has! Went back to my old projects and made the tweaks I’ve been waiting months to make. Even created some new projects and love the effect. No problem at all giving this 5 stars, great work, team! Before the update: It sounds good when it works but is entirely unstable and crashes all the time. I’ve stopped using it and hope it gets fixed. Still not fixed... Every now and then I try it, just to see if it’s something wrong in the OS causing the issue. Nope, update after update, all my other plugins are stable, but not this one :(

Texture, texture, texture!

This literally goes on everything for me! If you need to add texture to your samples, GET THIS!

It’s perfect... except...

ajask1307 on

It’s perfect. Except it crashes on my garageband app every time I try to use it. It will also revert back to the default preset everytime I send the song to someone else/ share it, and when I close the project and open it again. I hope there’s an update that addresses these issues because it really makes my music sound better. But I find myself trying to find other apps that work just as well since this one doesn’t work properly.

This app is great until you need to save or master

It constantly - CONSTANTLY crashes and the great sounds it creates never make it to the final. Always with the unexpectedly quit error message. Always.
