Longman Dictionary of English

This is by far the best dictionary I’ve ever used. Definition of word are very precise and pronunciation and spoken sentences are very useful for non-native speaker.

I just wasted my ₹2700 by purchasing this worthless app carrying the best dictionary content. 1. First of all, the size of this app is whopping 650MB if you check in your settings > iPhone storage. This size will drain your battery very soon as it’s huge app. If the app size were below 100MB at max, I’d be a great app as it wouldn’t drain the battery this soon. I’d suggest the Pearson education app developer to implement the methods of OALD and CALD, both of which consume 50-70MB, thus holding a brief for the battery. what OALD & CALD do is they have provided the option to first download the app of 50MB and then download the content of the dictionary. This makes it easier for the RAM and the battery to work on other apps also cuz a user always have other apps also for his usage. 2. There’s no functionality of looking up the words even from inbuilt-apps like Safari browser, leave alone other third-party apps which make out extremely useless app. In fact, before initiating the purchase of this app the thought that this app might not have cross-reference for look-up crossed my mind, but I’d to do that anyway because of the goodness of the content of this Longman dictionary. Now, I repent. 3. Last but not the least, there’s no option to decrease/manipulate the UI of the headword page except that there’s a provision for changing fonts which I found not excellent. Headwords homepage is more or less the same whether you increase/decrease the font size. Give some option to change the appearance of the headword homepages. I’d request the app developers to give a suitable reply to these three issues so that the solution to these two problems would be assured to both the current and the new buyers of this wonderful dictionary.

I gave one star just because it doesn’t have portrait mode. Because of this, I don’t use the dictionary at all. Please enable this mode so I can use the dictionary! If you don’t get what I’m saying then check Oxford Advanced Learner’s dictionary.

That’s perfectly designed Rich Easy to read and old-fashioned I love it

I have been a user of LDOCE PLUS for years. Suddenly, I found the application not working. I tried to reinstall the app, hoping the problem would be solved; however, it was no longer available. I paid for that application years ago, and I’m wondering how this happened. It’s the next level of irresponsibility.

This app and Longman Advanced American Dictionary used to be the best purchases I have ever made till the update of IOS 17. I realized that suddenly the second app no longer exists in the app store and LDOCE doesn't work properly. I paid money for both apps that were supposed to be available and it was said to be a one-time payment. Now not only it's forcing us to get a new app but also expects us to pay for the new app. It doesn't sound right. And there is no response to emails.

I purchased the LDOCE+ for almost 30$ and all of a sudden it is removed from the app store! I even sent an email to the developer but they did not reply. Why should I pay again for something I’ve already bought?! This one is not even close to LDOCE+ and doesn’t have many of the features.
