Mellow App

… and the product doesn’t work without the app. The last time this happened, it took 3 months for the company to reply to a support email via their website. At this point, that website appears to be abandoned (domain is available via GoDaddy), their last Instagram post was in 2017, and they no longer appear in a Facebook search. It appears this company has finally closed up shop. So, the good news is, if you haven’t already been hurt by their demonstrably terrible business plan, you may not be in any danger of it now.

The recent update’s only change is to start charging for an app that was previously included. No warning and no new features. Total ripoff. App no longer works for paid subscription. Machine doesn’t work without the app. Do not be scammed by this company.

This is not a review as much as it is a call for help. It’s been a while since I used the machine. I filled it then tried to open my app. Nothing but a white screen. Tried to update app, nothing. Deleted app, restarted phone, and still nothing. Got my wife’s phone out, same thing, just a white screen. Went to the App Store hand clicked on contact developer. Website is down too. Does anyone know? Have they ceased operations?

App doesn’t work.. which basically makes my mellow cooker a paper weight.. mellow website is unresponsive and won’t load.. maybe they went out of business..

Originally a decent product. In recent years, the app now requires a subscription just to set the temperature. And now it looks like the app doesn’t load for most people… so you’re left with a fish tank shaped paper weight. It literally has no controls without the app, and the app has clearly been abandoned. Hopefully I can cancel my subscription since it’s clearly not a business anymore. And if it is, they sure aren’t acting like one.

The app won’t load so I can’t use the basic features. When it used to load it would hammer you w subscription notifications. I paid $300 for the machine and don’t want to subscribe for recipes and other functions. Sadly now even the base functionality seems broken. Would not reccomed at this point

I was a Kickstarter supporter for Mellow, so, without people like me, the Mellow sous-vide cooker never would have happened. You can imagine how furious I was when Mello switched to a subscriber model, a change the original supporters were never informed about, and never anticipated. If I had known that I would have to pay an annual fee to use the product (and the product is virtually useless without the app), I would never have supported the product on Kickstarter in the first place I paid the subscription fee for two years, but the app has become virtually unusable, which makes the product worthless. I ended up, throwing it out! The product and the app deserve NEGATIVE stars.

I was gifted the mellow so I will use it occasionally but I already had a cheap 60.00$ spiced stick that is much simpler to use. It seems like might have some cool uses if you are willing to pay a subscription but I completely detest subscriptions for anything you have to but to start with

Mellow is continuing to charge me $50/year for a subscription, but the app doesn’t even work and it looks like the last update was 2 years ago. Ugh. Waste of money and plastic.

Used to love this device, and still would despite the subscription. It is super useful for our busy family. Unfortunately, it has recently not been working but maybe once a week. I can start something cooking but I get an error when it asks about adding ice. After that, for the next week or so, the app just shows spinning circles when I log in. It thankfully still cooks the last item I added, but I have to wait a week or longer for it to reset and let me use it again. Fix that issue and I would be thrilled to keep using and paying for it it. For now though, I’m starting to feel like I’m paying for something I can’t even use.
