What an amazing teacher! Michael provides all the information, tips and tricks that you need to know to paint pictures you will be proud of.

I signed up thinking it might be fun to learn a new technique. Little did I know how much I would love this style of painting. Michael’s videos are fabulous. I’m inspired to try different types of painting. Before, I only did flowers and landscapes. I just finished Michael’s champagne glass and I am astounded at how it turned out. My hand is no where near as steady as his, but, I’m old, and he is not! Still, I’m so happy with the outcome of mine. Still have lots of time left with my subscription, so off I go to try something else.

Michael is professional, articulate and patient in describing his techniques and colour mixing theory. His lessons literally walk you through each step and he describes how to use the brushes in a very clear and understandable manner. I’ve started my first lesson ‘The Thatched Cottage” and I’m very excited about how much I’ve already learned. Thank you MJS for sharing your art skills through your online school.

Michael is not only a highly skilled Artist but also an excellent teacher. I love his easy manner and dry humour. He is definitely of the realist school so If that’s your bag you simply can’t do better! 10 out of 10!

I’ve have been looking for this kind of instruction for a long time. Great teacher! Love your paintings and hope to paint as good as you someday. Also, is there a way to show our paintings to Micheal…I think it would be nice/fun … probably more for us to get his input on how we are doing.

I’ve been watching Michael James Smith since he first started on YouTube. I still struggled a bit because time-lapses gave me the idea that this was a fast style of painting and it didn’t really click for me until I watched MJS’s tutorials. They were just what I needed to learn how to take my painting to another level. For me, especially, I learned how to mix color better, techniques and how to manipulate either the brush or the paint to achieve details. In my opinion, it’s always best to learn from the best and Michael is among the best. Paint on!

I’ve just started learning to paint and even after one lesson I can tell I’m really going to enjoy this. Michael breaks every step down into something that even a complete novice like myself can comprehend. Can’t wait to continue learning!

I subscribe to three landscape artist online. Michael Smith is by far the most detailed and easy to follow lessons. I'm in my early 70's, retired and completed three of his landscape lessons. I would recommend Michael's online lessons to anyone. Great artist!!!!

It is helpful to see the basics in action. The way blocking in allows a person to focus on the details instead of the composition and sizing. I painted years ago but watching you gives me hope to up my game even in my later years of life.
