Device and app are garbage
I fell for the hype on their website. The company is a joke and their device is a total waste of money. Reminds me of snake oil from the 1860’s

The service and hardware are pretty good, but this is a review of the app itself... and it’s pretty bad. The app seemed barely functional when they first finished their Kickstarter campaign, and it was at least understandable, since they had a lot of things to start at that point. But they never came back to the app and finished it. The app shows only a fraction of what the web site does, none of the controls the web site offers... what should be a parity in functionality is anything but. As far as I can see, the strongest case for having the application installed is that it facilitates push notifications from their service. That’s good, but there should be much, much more. Worst part is that the app design is so poor, the button to Log Out (note that the app doesn’t support TouchID or FaceID) is in the upper left hand corner, where modern iOS design has standardized on some form of “go back” functionality appearing. So if you accidentally tap a notification, it’s way too easy to accidentally Log Out without meaning to. Come on gang - put some resources into making your app really good. ———————— UPDATE: This was a promising and exciting new product, and I really expected and hoped to see a version 2 of the device that was more refined, and to see the app and web site get some revs to be up to par. Unfortunately, all three seem to have stopped at v1, with no updates since 2017 and 2018, depending. It’s possible this just wasn’t profitable enough and the dev moved on, which would be a shame. As it stands, it is starting to feel abandoned. ———————— ORIGINAL REVIEW: The monitor-io device and service are a very promising “butter-serving robot” but while it gathers good data, that’s not enough: it needs to make that data available and useful. The app should replicate many of the features of the website (which also is a good start but needs more work), but it doesn’t. It does provide alerts on iOS, which is honestly a banner feature for monitor-io’s bot, but it doesn’t do much else and it could and it should. It’s also WAY too easy to accidentally log out. The log out button should not be where “Back” type buttons generally are, and it needs an “Are you sure” dialog to warn. Way too easy to hit accidentally.
The idea of the device is nice. The site and the app are complete trash. I’ll be returning this device to get my money back. I can monitor my network free with PRTG
I was a kickstarter backer and this app has not been updated at alll. No new features no nothing I’m feeling jipped
This is a great product but the app offers very little functionality.
Looks like there’s really no interest in improving the app or software on the device based upon the iOS release history :( Please Add to App & Website: - Don’t require the username to be case sensitive - Add 2FA via SMS and/or Google Authenticator - Add Biometric login - Add regular Speedtest charts with detail on up/down/latency/location or servers - Add screens to show the hops - Add Modal to check if the user is sure they would like to logout - Add more detail for which hop is latent or failing - Add enhanced/ improved dashboard analytics page to app - Add more detail if packet loss is observed - Add comparison metrics to other similar networks near the user - Add AT&T Gigapower to the fiber list - Add Up & Down manual input boxes for comparison against speedtest Hardware: - change the NIC to 10/100/1000 - I have AT&T gigapower and would love to monitor Speed over time of my gigabit up/down connection - Add graceful reboot (if necessary) to handle a power outage/internet connectivity interruption. I shouldn’t have to hard reboot the unit.
Unfortunately, I cannot log in. The credentials work fine via the website.
