OK to control music and phone, but the navigation (once paired) is rubbish.
Reading other reviews it appears I’m one of the lucky ones … my phone has at least managed to connect to the bike (2022 Tiger 1200 GT Pro, iPhone 14, Cardo Packtalk Bold … pair the phone first using the menu on the TFT display, then use the app to pair the navigation, carefully making sure you follow the steps shown and be very patient), I can control the music and see who’s calling on the TFT display.
However, even though I have managed to pair the phone, the navigation is utter rubbish! Let me explain …
Turn-by-turn navigation simply can’t handle complex road layouts (if there is a quick succession of turns you *will* miss one because there is a lag between your phone’s GPS and the app) and if it has to reroute (because you missed a turn it told you about after you’ve gone past it) you have to wait a worrying amount of time before it gives you an alternative turn to take. This means you can miss alternative turns or, worse, have to turn around and go back or pull over and start again!
I also found on my last ride that the maps aren’t as recent as they should be - I encountered junctions and roundabouts that weren’t even new (>5 years old) and the directions acted like they weren’t there at all. I figured it out as I have a sense of direction, others will not be so lucky.
Also, it’s obviously not a bike-centric satnav … which is fine if you just want to get somewhere but no good if you want a more interesting route (which is what a lot of other bike satnavs offer). You can import GPX files from Google Maps and other apps, but be warned - if you do this it will not reroute at all if you miss a turn.
On a positive note, the ‘free ride’ option is quite nice, but only as a record of where you went. That also suffers from a different problem where every so often it gives up for no reason and stops recording.
Good job the connectivity module was standard with the bike and the app is free, otherwise I’d be really annoyed. As an app that allows you to control music and answer phone calls it works, but if you want a fun ride with the satnav giving you directions, don’t bother.
Triumph, please take note and make significant improvements to this app. Making sure that the maps are up to date is a good start …!
Cannot Connect Navigation
This is rubbish, I have had fitted the Bluetooth connectivity module to my ‘22 Scrambler XE and no matter how many times I try to connect the Nav element does not work.
Phone connect but Nav doesn’t and I’m running the latest app version, TFT updated and iPhone updated.
TRIUMPH - HELP ME
Doesn’t f’ing work
November 2023, and the app still doesn’t work with iOS devices.
Pretty poor, lacking basics
Please dear god let me save locations, not just rides. Every time I need to search for my home address when I want to nav back from somewhere I’m reminded how bad this is. Please just get the basics right.
The app doesn’t work for navigation
Navigation feature does not work with iPhone 14 Pro. Unable to send a route It is keep asking to pair.
Disappointed
Bought a new tiger GT pro. I have a iPhone 12 and it still won’t connect to the nav part. Main dealer has also tried but no joy! It’s was a £14k bike with the extras on it and all I want is for it to do what it’s meant to do. The bike is fantastic but come on triumph please sort the app out. I am riding around with a 3rd party nav on the handlebars. If other devices work with my phone why won’t yours yet? It’s not like the iphone12 only came out last week. Please get it sorted. This is getting silly now as there hasn’t been an update in 5 months. UPDATE, went to main dealer today and they installed / uploaded some software to the bike. Result is that it’s all sorted and working great which includes the nav! It wasn’t the app that was at fault. IOS16 Any news on the compatibility issues with ios16 and the nav feature? When is the update coming? Triumph is meant to be a premium brand, why are you guys behind everyone else? Other developers have the app ready in time for the iOS update, why not you? Still awaiting a response please? After the app update to v 1.2.3 my iPhone 12 will connect via the first stage of Bluetooth so I can listen to music and make/receive calls but I have no navigation connectivity. The dealer looked it over today and is pointing towards the app! Again! Please help Tried everything in the “temporary patch” on v1.2.3 but still no nav functionality. Awaiting the next release to get all the features of my bike back!
WILL THIS APP BE READY FOR IOS 17? LAST YEAR WE WERE TOLD NOT TO UPDATE TO THE LATEST IOS AS TRIUMPH WERE NOT READY WITH THEIR APP FOR IT TO WORK????
Utterly flawed
As of Aug’22 the last update to this app was 5 months ago. So it’s clearly not supported, they aren’t responding to the intense and justified criticism. Just don’t bother. It’s unreliable, causes loss of control to headsets, difficult or impossible to connect, is illogical. Sack the people masquerading as developers.
Absolute rubbish
Crashes constantly and just doesn’t work. 3 years after first trying this app, it still doesn’t work. Triumph, this is a joke. Sort it out or move to Appl play
New bike purchase
So pleased to pick up my new Tiger, ordered quickshift and Bluetooth so I could use this app for sat nav.
Poor salesman could not get my phone connected then when it did the app continues to fail. Not a good experience for both of us. If triumph want to sell an app they need to test and maintain it .
Bluetooth connectivity.
Bought a new 72 plate 1300 Tiger GT PRO. The triumph Sat Nav app won’t connect to my iPhone. My Bluetooth headset has stopped working through the bikes Bluetooth.
I have tried everything and still not connecting. Triumph dealer says to connect things in a sequence, with headset last. Still doesn’t work. This is really frustrating. What’s the point in selling the bike with added features that don’t work. The bike has had a software update after a new stop/start switch was fitted. Still doesn’t work. Yes I can play music from my phone through the headset fine. When it connects to the bike, initially it works then if you touch any function button on the bike, the headset disconnects from playing music but I can still take a phone call. I’d rather it was the other way around as I don’t do calls when on the bike, just the music. Bike rides great but all the electrical features let it down. If not resolved I won’t keep the bike and possibly go for another brand as I am getting no joy with this.
