News24: Trusted News. First

I am a subscriber and I subscribed through Apple. Every - single - time I open the app I am logged out. Sometimes I can log back in but often the login fails. The proposed solution? Delete and reinstall the app. Not good enough!

As a long time supporter of both the web and app, time has come to cancel my subscription. The app has become an add market, with the adds taking more screen space than the actual news. I understand the need for multiple revenues, but running add campaigns are better left for non-subscribers and not your paying base. Today was the last time for me to click on an annoying add while trying to scroll, sub cancelled and back to free news on the web for me.

Articles won’t open even though I have an active Apple subscription.

After subscribing, the article still does not open.

Can’t read anything. Everything has a paywall. Useless.

Too one sided, too compromised.

I have cancelled my News24 subscription simply for its poor & factional coverage and reporting. News 24 has reared its head for being a politically aligned news source, as such, they provide biased coverage & reporting reminiscent of the apartheid days. The have entered the political arena and chose which faction they support. Poor editorial content. It should be referred to as a propaganda news source.

I was very happy to take out a subscription are support journalism and News24 which I’ve been reading for free for years. However, I completely understand that ads are needed to support view viewing. But I would have thought that paying subscribing would be freed from the relentless ads in articles. I find myself inadvertently touching ads which then take me to their website, that I end up just giving up and stopping reading. I’m at the point where I may just give up my subscription. The ads in articles are way over the top; there is a huge ad almost every paragraph. I would quite honestly rather pay slightly more each month to have all ads removed, although this shouldn’t be necessary with a paying subscription. The ads do absolutely nothing for me except to detract from the experience. Incredibly buggy too - have to force close and reopen the app multiple times per day.

The content of News24 and the journalism is unquestionably good. Unfortunately, the tech does not follow suit. This is probably the ONLY app where you cannot swipe right to go back to the Home Screen. It’s a simple fix but when I logged the issue I was told „click on the arrow“ to go back 🤦🏽 I would unsubscribe and delete the app in a heart beat if the journalism and content wasn’t as good as it is. —//—//— I then then followed the advise as posted in response to my initial review, and below is the comms thread. Your App need some help though. Please bring back the functionality to, depending on „where“ or „how“ you swipe, you could either go to the story before or to the HomePage/LandingPage. I'm paying a monthly subscription, as are most of us. Please fix the app. I'm left with a blank screen whenever trying to engage in the comments section.
