I love the Next Big Idea app! The book summaries or “book bites” are written by the authors themselves, so you know you’re getting what the authors think are the big ideas. I also love how you can read or listen to the book bites in about 10-15 minutes. I’ve already ordered 5 of the books I learned about on the app, and the app keeps me up-to-date with all the latest ideas being published today. Thanks for offering such an informative and fun way to keep up with the next big ideas coming our way!
I really figured that with big name authors behind it that this app wouldn’t resort to 2010 tactics of not allowing you to cancel a free trial without being brow beat by a salesman first. If you want to “modify your plan” you must first submit a request for a team member to get in touch with you, which can take a full two business days (weekends don’t count). This type of tactic is dated and unbecoming. My guess is that the goal is to catch a bunch of folks in the dragnet who are unaware that it takes days to cancel their trial and end up getting dinged for an annual plan.
Let us begin! 😊
Updated review after trying to like this again. I signed up for this Subscription based on Rufus previous podcasts. This has been book bite overload with redundant or non substantial info (regurgitated from a classic best selling book over time). Daniel Pink, Susan Cain are so overexposed. I used to like their info but now they are losing credibility. I feel like you are bringing book bites forth as an audition for publishers and some exposure with little value to the subscriber. I used to think this would be an intelligent, thoughtfully curated venue. It’s like shopping at Walmart where there is a lot of junk to find a few quality items. Previous: I find that downloading a book bite or podcast to a playlist or trying to get a downloaded one to play often times out. It’s super frustrating since my Apple, Spotify, Audible, Amazon podcasts do not do this i.e. it’s not the wireless connection that is the problem. The layout of the website is not intuitive or easy to navigate. I’m finding myself defaulting to my other podcast apps more often to listen to the same podcasts despite there may be a couple of ads. It’s less annoying than trying to play something on the Next Big Idea Club and have hiccups in it actually playing. It’s not the content of the podcast but rather the user experience. I keep my expectations low when I want to listen to something.
This app is always improving. There is no shortage of content. I enjoy exploring and appreciate the podcast here has no ads.
Love the books chosen, notes from the authors, and podcast. Such a great way to test a book out before committing to a full read. Only issue: usability on the app. It’s not intuitive, it starts playing when you try to add ideas to a playlist, and generally is hard to use. Needs some work, but don’t let that stop you from the great content. The value exceeds the pain points! (But please fix them!)
I get alerts and when I click them, 9/10 time the app is opened but I can’t find what it is referring to. Now I keep this alert to rate the app. Finally when the app DOES open the article, the VERY LOUD opening sounds come up. I do not like the music used at the beginning and between segments. All in all, the app is annoying. The content is good though
I love what I’m hearing and learning but it’s hard to find my way around the app. It needs to keep track of my history so 1) I can refer back to the content if I choose, and 2) I am not offered the same content again and again if I’ve already listened to it. Also, I’d like to be able to search content by key word (specific subject not just general categories) not just author or title. Not sure I’ll subscribe when my free weeks expire.
I love this app! The book bites are brilliant and this is perfect to have in airports, in waiting rooms, anywhere you want to stop the doom scrolling. Thank you Next Big Idea!
