NoteRacer - Music Note Reading

This app was very good at first learning notes so far best I can find. Very easy to find out how it works has everything from listening you play the piano to hearing to showing you the notes and what each is called. Honeslty amazing. Just once you actually sit down on the piano and start to learn them by playing what it shows after about 5 minutes of learning let’s say C3 to C4 you start to figure out what note is for what finger meaning that you start to be able to shoot the notes they show back at them very quickly. And at around every 12 seconds you at stopped by an AD. This is due to every 10 notes or so they show a mini pop up add. Either have like a membership fee of like £1.99 per month or something or have less ads because there is no point using this site anymore as the ads are literally thrown at you every 12 seconds.

The app is great but you can’t remove the ads. If you try, it just get an error. So you have to put up with irritating full screen intrusive apps that spoil your concentration

I’m a piano teacher and have been looking for a good note reading practice App to recommend to my students. I really like this one, except.. I’m using it on an iPhone 8, and in Practice mode the lowest row of buttons (Ab, Bb etc) don’t work. At all. I emailed support a month ago about this, but never received a response….

This is the most useful app I’ve found for teaching myself to sight-read, however every 10 notes you get right, a massive full-screen ad pops up, and most of the time you have to wait 5 seconds to close it. This could have been done in a better way, perhaps banner ads instead. Having to wait for a full-screen ad to allow me to close it is very distracting, and takes me out of the zone when practising. Would have given this app 5 stars if not for the full page ads.

I hardly knew bass clef notes and this has helped tremendously. I love that you can customize the range you want to learn, toggle on and off sharps and flats, and then test your skill with the game. It is hard and challenging but it is great. I think the leaderboard feature needs some work (not sure why the leader has 8 but second place has 35) and it would be nice if it didn’t duplicate the same person with the same score.

I have been away from music for many years. This program is easy to read and understand🏅

I love to play NoteRacer, but sometimes when I click the wrong thing with a different part of my hand I get it wrong when I know it. But that doesn’t change that I know it and that it’s really helped me learn the notes a lot better.

I can’t find a way to go from practice to play mode without closing the app first. Also the controls for bottom range notes is cut off by by phone screen and can’t be adjusted.

In smaller iphones such as 5s or se in settings you cant change the range of bass clef! Because it is almost out of the screen...

I just started using the app a day ago but I am loving the features. It is helping me learn the concept of reading. It is of course challenging but I am game. But the way they have timed games to help you read with a speed. I’m not at that level yet but it’s a great learning tool. Would I recommend this app? Absolutely and if you can join a class or take a private class to help you along the way. Also it takes time so I suggest take your time. Enjoy. No I am not a paid reviewer. See you around the piano.🙂
