Bought this APP however it doesn’t seem to want t work at all. All I get is a page saying get started and nothing after that page. Not even worth a one star rating.
Could be a good idea, but needs things like videos, articles, news or forums
I like the idea of this as a health and safety professional it is good to have quick access to information to check latest guidance. However, the content on here is really limited and when you put covid into the search bar nothing comes up despite a large amount of guidelines provided on the website.
Afraid this adds nothing - no useful functionality and all it actually provides is a series of links to the HSE website - which can be accessed on a phone or iPad anyway.
The idea of giving handy easy to use HSE tools and tips on a mobile device that could help out in the field is a great concept. This version of the app however has missed the mark. Aside from the intro screen bug, where it won’t clear by hitting “skip” (I have a screen video of this if it helps the dev team), the app and info isn’t setup for mobile consumption (in my opinion). I think it’s likely that there is a mobile demand for access to “tools” that help the activities for individuals and employers, and with hints tips and instructions guiding uses of it on the way. For example in making assessments of different types of risks. Or getting summarised bullet pointed information on key topics (LOLER, Permitting, production of Method statements, VDU checks). In this application it takes content from the HSE webpages and formats it so that you can see on a mobile device. It provides no other easy to use information and no easy summarisation. No quick hints and tips. No access to online or digital forms (which is the biggest miss as this is what you need out and about - tools). So I find myself wondering why I would ever use this rather than simply wait until I have access to a computer and look up any content I needed in a much easier way. For the level of information provided in this app it should be given as a free download not charged £2.99. If however you can develop this into something more useful that is helpful on a mobile device and can be used live in the field I would be happy to pay this price or higher. If you have any questions please get in touch
I am very disappointed that HSE are selling this app at the price shown. The app is apparently in Beta and has little to no content. Do not waste your time downloading and I urge the developers to remove the cost of this app whilst in Beta. Would be worth while releasing on TeatFlight before trying to sell at £2.99! I have requested a refund through Apple.
This app is disappointing, especially given the price of £3. It is a convoluted way of accessing the HSE website. It consists mainly of introduction text and bullet points with links to the website. There are no useful tools on it; nothing really useful. You’ll be better off adding a shortcut link to their website on the home screen of your phone/tablet. I asked my employees to download this app because I thought that it would be good for them to have a point of reference, I wish I’d checked it out before I had asked them to do this. The app doesn’t even have the health and safety law card on it! Whoever was involved in the concept and development of this app really needs to get out into the work environment to understand what people using this app would really want from it. It misses all the key features. They reckon that they did some research into what people would require from an app, but they were obviously asking the wrong questions, or asking the wrong people. Development of this particular app has been a waste of resources. My advice to anybody looking at downloading this app is don’t. You’ll be as disappointed as I was. I have to ask... HSE, why don’t you develop an app that will help businesses manage their health and safety with practical functionality: digital risk assessments; training videos, quizzes, generic tool box talks on common subjects; the ability to keep records of inductions, training, and refresher training and for business to add their own stuff; pop up reminders when important actions are required; a health and safety vault for important documents? All with HSE advice and guidance included? I don’t understand why there are third party companies out there offering these sorts of features whilst the governing body for health and safety in the UK is left for dust.
Completely useless. It contains nothing but very basic advice on Risk management. I mistakenly thought it would give access to the UK HSE’s full repository of information and industry sectors. But alas it seems the Prestigious United Kingdom Health and Safety Executive have entered the “Rip the Punter off” domain.
Really disappointed with this app. Although I understand that it is just a basic app which provides links to the main webaite, It is pretty useless when it’s easier and more convenient to browse the HSE website via my phones browser instead. I hope that this app gets fleshed out more in the future. Would have bean more useful if HSE included their assessment tools.
