Tried using one of the chargers near my house. The cable came down from the power pole but was way too short to reach any car. Called the customer service number. Had to listen to several ads trying to sell me car insurance and such. That felt super shady. Then the AI customer service came on and asked what I needed. I said that the cable was too short at my location. It said to call a different number. So I did. The same sounding AI voice asked again what I needed. Again I said that the charge cable was too short at my location. The very next words it said were, “Hang up now”. Super sketch feeling company.

Having to maintain a balance to charge instead of just being billed at the end is a bad system and a rip off as it allows them to hold onto your cash to keep charging

I needed to download the app to charge at an opconnect charger while out of town. They don’t have these in my hometown so I will only use it once. You need to reload funds PRIOR to charging. And the minimum amount you can reload is $20. I was forced to give them $20 for a $2.50 charge. How is that anything but a sneaky cash grab?

Don’t expect to pull up and start charging. It will take 5-10 minutes to download the app, create an account w/password, verify both a phone number and an email…. Then, it will force you to ‘add funds’ rather than just pay per charge session. And, it forces you to auto-add funds if drops below a threshold and grant camera access. Feels like my personal data is actually their product to some degree. I will be deleting after my session completes and will avoid this company chargers in the future unless something changes from them. 2 out of 5 stars because the charger is actually functioning after giving them everything.

Multiple charger not working for months, one of three station work.

This app is the ultimate ripoff. - The idle charges are absurdly high. They can easily double your cost of charging. - There are hidden fees that are not declared when you start a charge. These fees have increased the cost to the same effective amount as a supercharger, but the charger isn't nearly as fast. - The system requires you to keep an excessive amount of effectively unusable cash in your OpConnect account. - The payment management system does not offer detailed billing statements. The only way I found out about hidden charges was a text message that I got after a charge. - The notification system for charging is extremely unreliable, leading to even more idle fees if your vehicle does not alert you when it has completed charging. Stay away from this app and this charging network. It's a scam!

Equipment always breaks and they raised rates 37% YoY.

No Sign in with Apple. No Apple Pay. No autofill of passwords or cards. What a low effort app that puts all the complexity on every user. Also the minimum $20 deposit is egregious if I just need to charge once or rarely.

After you go thru long account creation you figure out you gotta do a $20 minimum. Ridiculous

Any charger which REQUIRES an app to operate should be illegal. And then to require account creation on top of that? Come on. Got to that step, deleted the app, and drove to the nearest ChargePoint. Yes, it’s still a required app, but at least they’re ubiquitous, unlike this company which doesn’t appear to exist outside of Portland.
