Great App in combination with PC version... just mind your French
I'd been looking for a way to keep the wine cellar up to date without having to drag the laptop down with me all the time and an application for the iPhone seemed the answer. Open Cellar certainly does the trick, and its graphical display of the cellar racks makes it easy to determine where those misplaced bottles have gone to. Adding new wines is quick, and you can slot them into place in the graphical rack. The big bonus for me for this application was the free PC version of the app, which synchronises with the iphone. The PC version has an add-on that allows your existing cellar information to be imported from spreadsheet (or an MS Access database) and after a few trial runs I had all my existing cellar information imported into Open Cellar almost perfectly. The PC version also allows you to pull several different rack spaces into a single graphical view, has built in reports and allows conditional formatting of the rack (eg: to show wines that have passed best drinking date) - all great stuff. One little downside is that the application is French - this isn't an issue if you just use the iPhone app, which has been fully translated, however if you also want the companion PC version, although there is an English language pack not all items are translated (for example in the import add-on, all field names are in French and some of the menu options are still in French) and the web site is predominately in French so be prepared to spend a bit of time with babel fish.
