App crashed often. Calibration doesn’t work. Without manual mode it’s impossible to calibrate the screen
App is closing by itself and when I speed through to the take picture portion it does not work. Did anyone actually put time into this app..garbage. This must be a direct reflection of the company I’ll be sure to let everyone know not to buy optoma.
Garbage app. Just gives the “failed calibration” error every time. Weak sauce.
Why? Why? Why did you remove manual mode? It was the one thing that was consistent. The app is unusable now and is a major step back. PLEASE BRING BACK MANUAL MODE ASAP.
The smart fit app doesn’t work. Auto or manual. And there is no backup way to fit the projector picture to the screen. Need a port in the projector you can plug a backup way to adjust. Too much money to have this feature FAIL.
Works maybe 1 out of 4 times, but only for a few seconds then the buttons are useless. You have to completely turn off your projector to get the app to re sync every time. I’ve never been more dissatisfied with an app ever. If this app had a face I would punch it.
So after 45 minutes of the app crashing. I contacted customer support in the morning because I was up until 3am. I spoke with Alfred from Tech Support who said sorry for my troubles and there was no need for the app to calibrate the screen to size. I was like whaaaaaa! Mind blown. He said press the top right menu button on the remote. Scroll one bubble over to Display, press ok. Scroll down to Geometric Correction, press ok.Scroll down to Warp Calibration, press okay. Here you will have 8 quadrants. Maybe more or less depending on your screen size. Use the arrow functions to scroll around to the square that needs adjustments. Press okay to highlight in solid green and use arrow key to adjust it. You want the border to have the green line. So for me it looks like i have 8 squares that fit inside my screen. When you’re done just simply use that back arrow or home button. Settings auto save here and you’re done. Enjoy not using the app. Great projector and customer support.
Took multiple times to even connect. Once that worked - every time after the screeen I need to take a picture if appears a pop up saying “connected” overlays it and there is nothing left to take a picture of. So frustrating with a product this expensive. I can understand failing once in a while, but 20 times in a row? Useless. And there do not seem to be any manual steps on the projector to achieve the same result. Who thought this out?
Bought the P2 projector in December 2020 (it’s May 2021 right now). Was projecting on a grey wall until now, when I bought a 110 inch screen, and used the app to align the image to the new screen. The app initially could not connect to the projector, but connection was successful after a couple of tries. Followed the instructions in the app and the calibration was successful. The new image is properly aligned to the new screen. I think my phone timeout caused the app to “crash”. This was when I was adjusting the projector for the blue/yellow frame alignment, and the phone was kept down. This was not a “crash” of the app, but a phone timeout. The app and the process worked great for me. Taking off one star because it did not connect initially.
