If you start the app and then change the volume before starting the timer, tapping the screen to start the time will add additional times. If you then use the volume buttons to log times it will occasional add or no times;
Up -> 1 time logged
Up -> 0 times logged
Down -> 2 times logged
Down -> 1 time logged
Down -> 2 times logged
This can mess up results horribly!
Multiple clicks removal
I’ve timekept a lot of parkruns. The older watches were more tactile and less prone to multiple or accidental clicks than phones.
Given this, I’d ask that a feature is added to allow timekeepers to slide over an accidental entry and remove it. I know the results processor can sort this out in post, but keeping in sync with the tokens and fellow timekeepers is important.
Note that I had emailed parkrun HQ a while back about this and had no response.
Very well designed app
This app is pretty perfect…very simple interface that is appropriate as thousands of people will use it without much training or explanation.
For scanning, it basically doesn’t let you make a mistake of which item to scan first, thereby avoiding errors. Haptic feedback is perfect, and the scanner works very well across different materials…wrinkled paper, screens, rubber wrist bands, etc.
Very well suited to its function
First time user - worked faultlessly
I used this for the first time a couple of weeks ago for barcode scanning and had zero problems. Faultless!
Works perfectly for me
Only used it once so far for barcode scanning at a junior event but it worked perfectly.
IOS 15 issues
I have an iPhone 11 pro and use the volunteer app without a problem. When timekeeping I start the run and then close the iPhone to prevent mistakes. As the runners finish I open the iPhone and open the app and I use the volume button to record the individual times. I have now updated to IOS 15 and today I was unable to use the app in the usual way. The volume button couldn’t be used to record the times, I was only able to use the touchscreen to input the time. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
Scanning works well
Great app to make volunteering easier and quicker
Stop watch / scanner
Stopwatch
Can you add a function to delete any times in case of an accidental taps please
Scanner
If the position barcode does not scan, then the app will not let you scan another runner until a position has been scanned. Can you add a function to allow the runner to be deleted to let the scanner carry on scanning
Love the App 👍👏👏👏
Turn WiFi off
As said before. Some Parkruns are in town and just turning to airplane mode is not enough. To stop interruptions, turn WiFi off as well. So phones are configured to log on to local hot spots.
It caused us problems in Whitstable.
Please take note. Main HQ seem unable to comment.
Thank you. Phil Hadler.n
Padding round timer button
I love the parkrun app, really easy to use. However, I was caught out by the new padding round the timer button this morning (11/9/21). I wasn’t aware that quite a significant part of the timer button was no longer receptive to taps, so this caused me to miss several runners. I normally hold my phone in my right hand and use my right thumb to tap the screen, so it naturally falls towards the right hand edge. Now I’m aware of the padding zone, I’ll be more careful to click nearer to the timer button. Maybe the padding zone could be displayed in a different colour?
