Patch the Pirate

Our family has loved Capn Patch for a long many years, and for $6.99 a month, I was thrilled to subscribe. No keeping up with or swapping out CDs! But we have an issue with the track skipping and not playing through to the end. Tapping each track seems to cause it to play through to the end, but it does not help it to roll smoothly to the next. (I bought an electronic download of one of the adventures, and we have to manually click each track on it too.) I think the app would be near perfect if that were fixed. (Perhaps it’s just user error!!!) We continue to listen and have one of the kids man the app. Keep plugging away at the issues, y’all, because this world sure needs Capn Patch and his friends! Absolutely LOVE the app but wish it saved your place instead of having to remember where you were each time.

I was overjoyed to see this become available! I grew up with these stories and know God used them in a mighty way in my life. I have purchased many of the cds over the years, but to have a streaming option available just thrilled me! Trouble is, I do not generally give my children access to my phone. It would be so helpful to be able to download the app via Apple TV! But alas, it is not available there. Perhaps in time? If so, I will happily renew! Just found we didn’t use it much with my children not having easy access.

The app is great! I love it and it’s definitely worth the subscription! However, it could use some improvements. 1. Sign up on the app - You should be able to sign up on the app, not just log in. Or at the very least put instructions on the app sign in page to show people how to sign up. 2. Make the content available off wifi and make them downloadable, perfect for car travel and long roadtrips and otherwise. And it’s also great for when we don’t have wifi because then we can listen to what we downloaded. 3. Have the app save your place when you’re listening, or at least start at the begging of the track you left off on. 4. And lastly, for those who need it, make customer support easy to reach. 5. You know, a tutorial video explaining the app and all it’s features on the sign in page or on the main menu screen you see right when you sign into the app - That would be great! I have been thinking for years that a Patch app is needed! I had an Amazon music subscription to listen to the 10 or so stories there. I would much rather pay directly for the product!

We love Majesty Music and Patch the Pirate. My youngest son was excited to learn of the patch app. We have bought almost all of the adventures except the last few, so this seemed like a great way to have them all in one place and to hear the new ones. The app is easy to use and easy to navigate. The search seems to work really well; however, I really would like to see some improvements. 1) To be able to download the music and stories. I prefer to download stuff so I don’t have to use cell data. Also, the app seems to have almost no buffer in the streaming so if we don’t have a strong signal the music or story pauses. We also were at a place were the cell coverage was low and couldn’t get it to start until after we drove a couple of minutes. 2) It would be nice if it saved your place. My son often listens to things on the way to and from school. Since the app does not keep our place we have to search for where we were at. 3) The App doesn’t give a clue as to how to sign up. I also felt the information on the website was very vague. 4). There seems to not be an easy way to reach out to the app support. The link doesn’t connect. When these things are improved, I’ll be happy to change my rating to 5-stars.

I have been very excited about this app. After having this app on my iPhone for two days, it has proven to be a blessing in the classroom, the home, and the car for both private and public use. It is a powerful tool for “shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD.” Seven dollars a month is an amazing deal for around a thousand dollars worth of recordings. May the Lord bless many with the same Biblical songs and stories which have changed my life! Constructive feedback: •It would be convenient to subscribe through the app. •It would be easier to accurately press the play/pause button and the next button if they were spaced further apart.

Such a blessing to have the complete Majesty Music catalog including every Patch the Pirate recording all in one location. I can listen to Sissy Seagull any time now! You can even find Sissy Seagull’s instrumental piano recordings under her alias name but she’s always Sissy Seagull to me. The app works with all of the native Apple iOS features that you would want including Bluetooth for playing in your car. Your account allows for three device connections per physical location. This is great so that Mom and Dad can have access. The developers did a great job with the initial release of this app. Glad to support this ministry.

I grew up on Patch the Pirate so loved the idea of a dedicated app for it. I know Patch and Majesty Music produce good, wholesome, Christian material. And I like that the app includes not only all the Patch adventures but also music albums by Majesty Music etc. The idea is great and I hope they keep developing it. The material itself would be well worth $7 a month. This app needs some adjustments before it is useable for me though. The first and most obvious is that the app itself doesn’t offer any information on how to subscribe to the app, yet you can’t access anything without a subscription. I had to go to my internet browser and Google it to find the website, then subscribe through the website, then go back to the app to sign in. They could at the least included a link to their website instead of making me Google it. The second is that the app only offers streaming of their content - I could not find any way to download any content. As my internet is usually too slow to do much streaming, this makes the app virtually unusable for me. They need to offer a “download” or “listen offline” button to their content. The third thing is fairly minor, but is kind of annoying anyway. The design of the app was clearly made for a phone screen, not an iPad screen. Only portrait mode, no landscape, and just overall designed for a smaller screen. They should make a version designed for larger iPad screens and offer landscape mode. If these problems were resolved I would re-subscribe and would give it five stars, as the content itself is good.

More information about Patch the Pirate Plus would make this app more inviting. Things like where to register/subscribe (since you can’t from the app), how much it costs, and what’s included with the subscription.
