Penultimate

I’ve tried them all, notability, GoodNotes etc. If you use Evernote, this is the note taking app for you. It syncs to Evernote. The reasons I like this app: - It has the nicest ink/pen of all the others. If I could recreate the pen settings and therefore writing experience in other apps I would. - it’s simple. Simple to use, no remembering how to do stuff. - there are templates. Suggestions- I would love to have more ink colours, paper colours and also more templates, or at least a template creator app. ( dated calendar) day of the week work notebook etc. I would have given it 5 stars if there were more ink colours.

I enjoy using this app for note taking. I just got an Apple Pencil and it works really nicely. I’d love more control over organising my notes, though. Being able to cut and paste pages from one note to another.

Why do Evernote keep this app on the App Store? It only damages the reputation of the core Evernote app, which is really good. Penultimate is just buggy, buggy, buggy and the main problem is it’s terribly unresponsive. It misses about 5 in every 10 attempts to touch the screen. I’m using a JotScript stylus with my iPad, and it’s hit and miss every time if the app even registers the pen is there. Ignoring the pen, the two-fingered scrolling also doesn’t work, only responding to about half the requests I give it. Also - it looks like it was defined by a team that never saw Evernote - it bears no design similarities to Evernote at all. Evernote; junk this app, start again from scratch, then go back to market when you have something that actually works.

I was a big fan of this app previously and used it extensively in work and college. Unfortunately now it is completely unreliable. I have lost too many pieces of information to continue using it any longer.

Loved penultimate when it first came out, very happy using it but not anymore. I've really tried to persist with the new look & feel but I've had enough, I'm giving up on using this new version, maybe there's better functionality in it but it's no longer intuitive to use. Keep it simple folks, it used to fill a need for me but no longer I'm afraid.

I used this app everyday before the new update but now I got a different app, the new update is not good and if I had the option I would go back to the old app, the new one is very laggy and glitchy, over all not good at all

Using two fingers to scroll is complete nonsense,reverse to old style of scrolling. Am now using DukePen and it's simply fantastic!

The upgrade is broken and doesn't work. I'd say it was deliberate. Looks like the purpose of the upgrade is to make you use Evernote and make you buy a jot script stylus. It's a shame because Penultimate is a nice app. Skip the upgrade.

Don't upgrade to the latest version until they have sorted the bugs. It just doesn't work. What was a perfect notebook app previously has been ruined. Obviously they didn't test it properly before releasing the upgrade. Writing with a Jot Pro stylus worked perfectly 100% previously - works less than 50% of the time now. Even worse when it does work the text/line on the iPad appears about 5mm away from the point where the stylus is touching the iPad....making writing impossible. It's basically unusable until they fix these bugs.

Deserves no stars. Navigation does NOT work!!! No point Can't use the app because of this up grade......"
