Pianoteq vastly outperforms alternatives. It not only requires extremely little storage for a serious piano as it does not rely on samples, but it has infinite dynamic sensitivity (again, because it does not rely on samples), and its latency is actually lower than sample-based alternatives on iPad (I find)!
I cannot go below 3 stars because Pianoteq sounds really really good. If sound was the only thing that matttered I’d given it 5 stars. However, the BIG missing thing is serious integration with the rest of the iOS music eco system. The app is not an AUV3 plugin. Therefore you cannot use it inside Logic Pro or Cubase or AUM. The only way to record the sound coming out of Pianoteq on the iPad itself seems to be recording a screen capture movie. That is a sad state of affairs for people using the iPad for music production.
Truly amazing app, small in size, big in sound, dedicated support, and when you disregard the purchase price for iOS use only…… in short: "a must have" ! Gr.@dje (🈲).
I own a variety of piano instruments for my iPad Pro, and I do have good sounding piano plug-ins amongst them. But this? Pianoteq 8 blows every other piano plug-in available for iPad out of the water. It’s amazing how far we’ve come in terms of technology in the current day and age. Love it. Thanks developers from Modartt!
This software was already amazing, but the iPad version is super convenient. I am using this with my Roland and an iPad from 2020 and a camera adapter. No latency and great sound!
I use Pianoteq to upgrade my aging digital piano to the latest and greatest digital piano sound. For years I struggled with Pianoteq on Windows with its less than stellar audio drivers. When I switched to a MacBook M1 I got much improved audio latency and better playability. But it was still a hassle to setup and connect my laptop every time I wanted to play the piano. All this has now come to an end. Pianoteq on iOS is exactly the same app as the desktop version. Because it has a single licence for all platforms as an existing user I got it for free. The performance is excellent even on my older iPhone. So when I now want to play the piano I just plug in my iPhone into the MIDI USB cable and I’m good to go!
This software is awesome. I use this with my Roland FP-30X and the sound is dramatically better than what’s offered stock with the piano. Easily worth the license fee. I also love that it records everything you play, so anytime you get a good take, you can stop and save it.
Sounds are great but the ui is hard to use.
Just wow Great that you have plenty of time to demo the different pianos. Not cheap, but same license works on other platforms as well..
I especially like that it is not using samples. This is fantastic sounding true emulation, and so much more flexible (and slim) for it. No huge sample data blobs. The only major downside is the terrible user interface. Maybe a granny’s wet dream, but not worthy of a professional tool.
