I've tried dozens of recipe/grocery list apps and this is the closest to my holy grail app. Especially when I'm doing a round of Whole 30-this made it possible to complete the round and I'm about to do it again! The only improvements I would suggest is to add a pantry feature with upc scanner to keep track of what I've got on hand, expiration dates, etc.; and to have sub log ins for family members so I don't have to share mine for my kids to pick their fave options
UPDATE : I was pleased when PTE reached out to inform me that their developers were implementing a recipe capture feature for instagram posts and reels. I have been using it for several weeks now and let me tell you— IT’S LIGHTYEARS BETTER than any competitor that you see advertised all over Instagram. PTE is now the best of the best. I LOVE that I can easily pull up a cataloged recipe, print it out if I need to and I can even watch how it’s made when I click on the Instagram reel link. A visual demo AND written instructions. Also, I no longer have to screenshot Instagram recipes, copy text from photos and attempt to “bulk input” ingredients - it’s streamlined and works great now (had a few kinks at first but it seems to be working fantastic now), This new feature combined with all the other tried and true ones for recipe calendaring and shopping lists makes PTE the GOAT. Thank you for making my menu planning and shopping so easy! Quite frequently, I sit in the parking lot at the grocery store for a few minutes, quickly menu plan my week and then run in with my shopping list in hand. I also tend to print my recipes (another great feature) and keep them in my recipe binder. Cannot recommend this enough. Worth every single penny. Good on ya PTE. Previous review: I have loved this tried and true app for several years, until I no longer did. I have hundreds of recipes saved in here and my one and only gripe is that there is another app out there that captures Instagram recipes on posts or reels instantly. Thats where I get most of my recipes. So, if the post does not have a link with the recipe on a website you are out of luck. PTE does have long instructions where you can screenshot the recipe and paste it into the app however, for recipes that do not fit in one screenshot this is long and cumbersome task. I wish PTE would consider adding this feature. I have emailed them and asked and they said it’s not in their plan to add it for the time being but they would add my request to the developers. We will see.
I love this app. It’s awesome to be able to plan menus no matter where I’m at. I love collecting recipes off the internet and PTE allows me to organize all my favorites. Once I have a week planned it’s easy to use the shopping list to go shopping. Thanks PTE!
I’ve used Plan To Eat for years and am still discovering new features that make my meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking experience more efficient and enjoyable. Totally worth the subscription cost, and I appreciate the referral program… because I can’t help but tell my friends about PTE. It’s a GAME CHANGER for simplifying menu planning and prepping!
I've been using this app for over 3 years and it is life changing! Being able to save recipes with one click is amazing, and the planning function makes grocery shopping so easy. My favorite part is how it adds all the ingredients for shopping - so if you have 3 recipes and each calls for 1/2 onion, your shopping list (which you can customize to match the layout of your favorite grocery store) will say you need 1 1/2 onions. I use Plan To Eat to plan my family's week of meals, then a grocery delivery app to have all the groceries delivered. It saves so much time and money! This app is 100% worth the cost! If you're on the fence, just buy it!
They say there are silver linings to be discovered when bad things happen. Introduction to this app is one of mine. It arose out of COVID-19. Weird huh? But true. Here’s how it happened. I’m venturing out on my first grocery trip after COVID hit our city hard. I’m scared. Lots of people. No social distancing. Very few people wearing masks. All I want to do is get what I need and get the heck out of there. List in hand (on my ToDo app) I get what I can...which isn’t much because panic has replaced common sense among the masses. I go home...in the garage sanitize everything I bought, carry it into the house, and realize I don’t have the ingredients for a complete meal amidst the array stuff now occupying the countertop. Now it’s my turn to panic. But more importantly...time for a change in my aimless shopping strategy. Running back to the store several times a week for this and that to complete a meal worked fine in those pre-COVID days. Certainly not now. I HAD to get organized. First up...inventory my pantry and freezer. Second...execute meal plans for a period of a week. But meal planning requires a lot of discipline and labor...searching for recipes, checking current inventory, creating shopping lists, etc. There must be an app, I thought. So I did a little research, read a bunch of reviews and decided on PLAN TO EAT. Yes it came with a price tag...a very minimal one...and WORTH EVERY PENNY! I can magically import recipes I find on the internet, or input from recipes I’ve collected, catalog them, edit them (very important because I put my personal stamp on most recipes I use), create numerous tags that help me use up my inventory, AND create a shopping list! There’s much more to this app than what I’ve mentioned but I can’t put it all in one review. Get this app! You will be so glad you did!
If you like to eat and enjoy cooking, this is a great app! I have used this app for years. It is a great way to plan meals, track nutrition, plan you grocery list, share recipes with friends, and get ideas from other people who like cooking.
Great for storing recipes from any site. Also the shopping list that is created from planned meals is easy to use and sorted by aisle. Such a time saver. You can tag recipes for special meals (eg Thanksgiving) or certain cuisines. Recommend it to everyone!
This app has given me hours of time back. I love everything about it. Meal planning, shopping, and cooking aren’t so terrible anymore.
