The free subsonic API apps have been not as well maintained nor anywhere near as professional quality. Very glad I got play:Sub

CarPlay keeps crashing when tap on car screen menu

As the title says. Music seems to play when I tap on “play something for me”. But if I want to tap on tabs at the main screen, namely, album, playlist, etc, the whole thing crashs. However despite the bug, this is the only app that I found can play music without hiccups with my navidrome server. Yes I have tried other free players support subsonic protocol. So please keep up the good work and continue fixing bugs.

the client is really good. i have a fairly old phone, iphone xr, and some other apps i tried did not function without heating it up and crashing (this was, admittedly, a jellyfin music client [not subsonic] but same function. it was also a react-based app which is probably why :P); this one does not, and seems fairly lightweight. carplay works well. no tracking is a wonderful bonus. and i like the nit-picky ui stuff that i can change (i didn't like swiping left to see artist info, which was never filled out for me, so i just turned it off). good stuff :)

Make it Easier for making playlists!

It is so tedious making a playlist! There should be a feature to select multiple songs and add them to a playlist instead of going through artists/albums/individual songs to add one by one

Super useful and awesome subsonic client, little wonky with the Que system compared to Spotify but it definitely works and works quite well

Major Issues

I had high hopes for this app. But there’s a serious playback issue where the player rapidly cycles between shuffle, repeat, and repeat all. Almost like the buttons are pressing themselves over and over again. This results in songs repeating themselves or shuffling when not desired. Renders the app basically unusable.

Love this app except…

This app is so well thought out and customizable exactly to my liking… except when I get out of a CarPlay vehicle, it stops and then resumes on my phone on speakerphone… I never ever want to hear music in this way. AppleTV support would be awesome too

nice app. wish it worked with watch

app is nice, good navidrome frontend. main issue is id like it to stream to my watch app over cell network, untethered to my phone. so i can workout without carrying my phone with me. also think it needs some work with downloads / caching. sometimes my albums disappear? or get evicted from the cache?

CarPlay broken?

I’ve used play:sub for several years as stand alone and for its CarPlay abilities and it has proven awesome and reliable. Since recent app/iOS updates CarPlay seems to be broken. I can see artist lists but no files to play. Very frustrating. The app is useless for my needs without full CarPlay support. I’m running ios17 and the latest play:sub version with Navadrome server.
