Complicated and confusing
Tried charging at Champneys forest mere. After a long time trying to figure out the charger and downloading the app etc it stopped working. Wouldn’t bother wasting your time.
Had the worst EV experience in two years at a PlusCharge charge point. App is hard to use, not very intuitive and one of the error messages was in Spanish. Spent 40 minutes trying to get a charge then gave up. Appalling.
Don’t use any of these chargers
This company doesn’t allow you to charge as a guest, even though it clearly states that you can on their website. It even gives you the option if you use the online portal rather than the app, however the payment never goes through and when you call support they tell you that you have to register and they don’t offer guest charging.
Tried to use chargers at Champneys Forest Mere. After an overly difficult process to get it to start charging, the charging unit stops working after a few mins (completely shuts down - lights off, screen not working). App still thinks the session is running and I am unable to cancel the session as the app says it cannot connect to the charger (because it’s shut down). Exact repeat on second charging unit when I tired another. As stated by others, phone line doesn’t work with recorded message of “mailbox full”.
I successfully managed to start a charge at Champneys Forest Mere (charger 2) as I needed to top up my car enough to get me home. In order to charge you have to add a maximum budget or kWh amount, so I set it to maximum as I didn’t know exactly how much I needed. When I came to stop the charge at a convenient point the app didn’t work! The Stop Charge button just cycles round as if it was working but the charger doesn’t actually stop. The on-charger screen also didn’t have a button to manually stop the charge like most others do. So I had to wait until the car was fully charged and naturally cut off the charge before it would release the cable and I could finally use my car - having wasted time waiting for the charge and charging to a higher amount than I originally ally wanted to/wanted to pay.
Couldn’t get a charge to start. Tried using the interface on the charger, the app and the website but no luck. Called the helpline only to get an automated message saying the mailbox was full and the line then disconnected. Raised a support ticket which was then closed two weeks later with no action or comments.
I turned up where there used to be a Tesla charging point at Champneys Tring with 30 mins for a workout and a charge. I spent all 30 mins trying to get the charger to work after downloading the app and depositing a non refundable £10. One phone call to a person who had to get someone more qualified to call me back (no call 24 hrs later) and my 30 mins had gone, no charge but a whole lot of frustration.
Impossible to get working, keeps saying we are too far from the charger! QR codes are invalid, tried all 3 chargers and cannot get any to operate. Now need to find another charger
