Castro gives you control of podcast listening. Easy to use with options no one else provides. Do this for yourself!
There are so many podcast players out here and I’ve tried pretty much all of them. Castro has been a real treasure to use. Well designed and simple to use. A must download!
I used the free trial because I’m sick of using podcast apps that have a no ad version only for that lack of ads to be conditional, such as a lack of visual ads. Immediately, the one podcast I’ve been listening to that has been having this issue consistently had dynamic ads at the front. If it was a brand sponsorship/affiliation with the podcast, I would understand that, but saying no ads is blatantly false.
The Castro app UI is easy and straightforward to navigate and use. Playlist are easy to create and rearrange if necessary. You can easily stop one show, listen to another, then come back to the last one without losing anything. I have been able to find all the shows I previously listened to on other apps. It has a good history tab to go back and review show notes.
I switched from Apple podcasts to try this a second time. I got the free trial and enjoyed side loading and trimming silence. Definitely worth paying for.
I’ve been a premium subscriber for years now and Castro has become *less* intuitive over time with each update, a classic case of trying to cram in too much functionality. There appears to be no user guide, you just have to sort of stumble around (if there is a guide it’s not easily found). Also, the app is not consistently behaving based on the settings I chose, and frankly it’s pretty frustrating to use!
I’ve been a paid subscriber to this app for many years. If you listen to tons of podcasts, as I do, including many that you subscribe to but don’t listen to each ep, this app is a godsend. Imagine going through a physical mailbox, recycling the mail you aren’t interested in, and putting on your desk the good stuff you do want to read through. That’s the experience here. Also it’s cute looking. And the paid perks while not groundbreaking, really do provide a nicer (ad free!) experience. Give it a try. If it’s for you, you will know right away.
I’ve been making do with Overcast, but Castro’s user experience is better. Better queue management. Better sleep timer. Better organized UI. Better.
Good fit
